Hi everyone, this is John from Zoom and I'm here to introduce you to our Q2n-4k handy video recorder.
The Zoom Q2n-4K combines the unrivaled sound quality of the Q2n with an all-new camera to capture your performances in stunning 4K video.
The Q2n-4K features Zoom’s all-new camera system developed from the ground up for the highest-quality video capture. Capable of recording in 720p, 1080p or 4K UHD resolution, the Q2n-4K uses the same 24 fps, 30 fps or 60 fps frame rates used in film.
The 150-degree wide-angle lens and f/2.8 aperture make the Q2n-4K perfect for musicians who perform in a variety of lighting environments. Capture the full band or focus on an individual performer from a single camera position using five field of view (FOV) settings. Plus, a color LCD screen makes it easy to frame the perfect shot and review your videos.
All-new scene settings let you record performances in a wide range of environments, including low-light locations. The Q2n-4K’s high dynamic range technology automatically adjusts the contrast of your video recording to capture the most detail.
12 ‘Scene’ presets allow you to record your performances in a wide range of environments, including “Outdoor”, “Jazz Club”, “Concert Low-Light” and “Flat”. The Q2n-4K even features an “Auto” scene setting which will detect your current lighting and select the appropriate balance for you.
The Zoom Q2n-4k is small enough to carry anywhere, and its intuitive controls, simple one-button recording, and analog-style level control mean you’re always prepared to record impromptu performances or new ideas.
The built-in X/Y microphones capture sound with beautiful stereo imaging, and are capable of handling sound levels up to 120 dB SPL. This means you can record loud concerts without any distortion. Monitor your audio via headphones or an external audio amplifier with the Q2n-4K’s 1/8” stereo output jack.
To view your video recording in high definition, you can connect to an HDMI TV using the micro HDMI output. The USB port allows for connection to any computer or iOS device so you can use the Q2n-4k as a web camera for live streaming to Facebook, KZbin, Twitch and more. It can also be used as a USB microphone with your iOS device, Mac, or Windows computer for mobile podcasting and music streaming, or as an SD card reader to transfer recordings to your computer.
The Q2n features Auto Gain functionality to automatically control input level, as well as a low-cut filter to eliminate low frequency noise and rumble. The Q2n is also capable of recording audio only, in WAV formats up to 24-bit/96kHz. Simply use the ‘Camera Off’ setting to capture demos or live performances in stereo sound using the built-in X/Y mics.
The Q2n-4K frees creators from the 4GB file size limitation imposed by many SD cards. Although capable of standard recording to a microSDHC card, the Q2n-4K also allows for up to 256 GB of unbroken recording to a microSDXC card.
The Q2n can be powered by two standard AA batteries, AC adapter, or connect the BCQ-2n (sold separately) to extend the battery life for long shoots. You can also connect a generic USB power bank to extend the battery life. The Q2n will use the external battery until depleted, then it will automatically switch to its AA battery power.

@@tumarbongrox6074 Nice camera. I expect it's much larger and more expensive than the little plastic Zoom Handy. I use the Q2n4K as a studio cam... one of 5 cameras aimed at me or parts of my studio. It can be a webcam or HDMI out cam and is sitting on its own little tripod. Very sharp image for a cheapo camera.

I recently purchased the Q2N-4K. I set this up at our place of worship to record a service (45mins to 1 hour) for this Covid-19 situation. I turned all of our lights on and the result is the video in all settings is grainy. I previously recorded with my DSLR aperture f2.8, ISO 800, shutter speed of 50 with and the video is clear. I know my DSL has a better lens but it gives me an idea where the ISO should be for good exposure. The ISO, on the Q2N-4K needs to be changed to allow more light into the sensor. I am hoping Zoom will consider updating the firmware to enable lower ISO scenes or better yet manual settings. I used wide setting so no digital zoom (i.e. FOV). The Q2N-4K has a 16 MegaPixel sensor so it should be able to produce a video without grain in a room that is full of light. The camera is approximately 6 feet from the person speaking. The reason I really like the Q2N-4K is that it does not split the file into multiple files for a single 1 hour recording. I am trying to avoid stitching files together in post and losing audio between clips. I like the simplicity of it and decent integrated preamp.

@@ZoomSoundLab Yes, I used each Scene setting and the noise is consistent in all of them and at 4k, 1080p, 720p. I must say I really like this camera and it is perfect for our application. This is the only camera that I know of that will allow us to record for 60 mins without having to do anything in post, with the exception of conversion to a smaller format for uploading to youtube. The audio quality of the internal preamp is excellent (clean with no hiss or pops), we are using a shure wireless mic into the camera's line-in jack. The video is very usable but believe it could be better either with a scene-setting that allows for lower ISO or selectable ISO.

@@joelmoore6182 I just removed the lens and put an f0.95 super starlight lens into it. No more grain. No ir filter though either but I can deal with that. You can get other low light lenses with ir filter though too.

Help please...I purchased a q2n4k...and have couple questions...as a guitarist recording clips of original material I need a secondary video monitor so i can see image as im performing,if i only have camera monitor i have to move out of frame to see.Am I correct in assuming this is achieved with a HDMI CONNECTION/CABLE? Which brings me to my next question...i recieved two cables with my camera,one is the USB connection,and I assumed the other was a HDMI cable but this cable will NOT connect anywhere on the camera.

I take it that you can not use a lapel mic with this unit, correct? Plug in a lapel mic for direct audio w/the video and not use the cameras mic's to avoid other things going on in the room etc.

You can use a lapel mic, there is a 3.5mm stereo unbalanced input. When connected to this input, the built-in Q2n-4K microphones will be disabled.

That shouldn't be necessary as long as you set your levels correctly (both the audio output level of the Q2n and the audio input level on the DSLR).

I love the Q2N, yet I have a question. When recording a performance of an hour, or longer, is it normal for this to be chopped up into multiple files? If so, how do I paste them together if a song is spit into? Thank you!

Check your microSD card. If it's an SDHC card, then files will be split after 4GB. To avoid the 4GB limitation, the quick start guide recommends using an SDXC card and it will keep your shoot to one continuous file rather then chopping it up into 4GB files.

I have my Q2n4k for nearly 2 years. I recorded few choir concerts and performances in the church with low light. I am deeply disappointed with this camera. 1080p is much darker than 4k (which creates very large files) and none of the settings can realy cope with low light. The videos do not look like the promotion videos showed by Zoom. Sound is indeed great, but i can have same sound with H2n handy recorder and lower price. I gues I would not buy this camera again. Sport cameras deal better with low light. ☹️

My Q2N camera doesn't work even though this is now the replacement one that Im speaking on. I've been sent over a new one that has lasted less than a week and it already has problems. I can see that, like my 1st one, the USB section is very loose and will most likely end up pulling apart. The NEW issues with the replacement one is that any footage I film on this camera ends up unviewable. Once I finish and check the content it always says "corrupt" or "file cannot be viewed". I pulled the content off my SD card and it was still unusable via any video viewing program. It basically records but all footage is unuseable. I have formatted the SD card and even used another one I have spare and I have the same problems no matter what I do. The whole Q2N camera is a terrible choice as it's done nothing but caused me to loose footage or not film at all. Plus the battery requirement kills any battery I put in (I tried the option of plugging in an external battery unit but it still dies while connected). All in all I'm so unhappy with this product.

I don't understand why this camera is not more popular...I've been using this for around 4 years...140 + Videos... 1080p, 24fps, Flat...The audio capture is amazing for syncing in post, and or using for a live recording. Flat recording allows cinematic post color grading. I don't give a $uck about fancy lenses / slow motion BLAH BLAH BLAH. I even put this camera threw the worst of low light situations, and it still delivers 😎🍻🤘

It could also be your video editor "downgrading" your files for a optimal editing experience. Ditch the 4k high frame rates unless your trying to do fancy stuff like slow motion / cropping Etc...I Record indoors with no natural light @ 1080p, 24Fps,Flat with only two tube lights and a couple of 1x1foot10v led spotlights wit no issues...I only use 4k outdoors just incase I feel like doing anything fancy in post, and yet I still render/publish in 1080p 😁

I have a question regarding using the USB port as a power supply for Zoom Q2n 4K, when I plug in my camera directly to a power source with USB cable and power adapter my 2a batteries are still dying. The battery icon disappears from the screen which means that cable is working, but my batteries are still gone, and I tried with 3 different pairs. After 2h they are gone. What could be the problem?
