First make new project so it has a folder. Then import your files via lap or pc to audio folder of project. Then assign file to wanted track. Stereo files will take two tracks. It's in the manual.

Love this thing and use it constantly, the simplicity is great and I come up with better songs when I’m not using a DAW. But be warned it has a big downside which is that it’s a battery monster. If I use it a lot it needs new batterys daily

I play guitar and sing but I have never owned a recording device.for the songs I would be recording i would need 4 tracks tops. is it easy to get the hang of these ? it looks very complex to me.

Supereasy 8 track recorder. On-board drums are a bit say... A friggin pain just use a drumcomputer. Excellent quality!

Record a drumtrack first. Then lay down other tracks as any track recorder. Couldn't be simpler. Bouncing, mastering, effects, mixer it's all there.

You have to read the manual.It's easy after that, plus any subsequent machines you get are easier once you get the hang of this one.

What does a marking do? how do you make a multi track?

Markers set points in a recording for quick acces. Multitracking is recording something, then playback and record something else. That's Multitracking.

I have used to SD cards and both of them what work they are brand new every time I answered it go to Tool go to format choose yes it gives me card error please press exit. I try again and again and it gives me the same error every time. Is there something wrong with a machine it is brand new I'm just trying to use it the first time

We’re you ever able to record onto the sd card. Then take the sd card out and put it into the computer and extract the song recorded and use let’s say garage band to edit the recording further.

When I press Pan EQ for a Track & go past Cho Send & come to Fader, does anyone know what effect this has? If I don't want to Fade the song in or out at any point what number should Fader be at?

Move fader to see number go up and down. Its just an indicator

Can the pre-recorded TEMPO of a pre-recorded pattern/patch of a Zoom R8 (Multi Track Recorder) be altered from the pre-recorded tempo while using/looping/playing back the pre-recorded pattern/patch?...as I can seem to be able to alter the tempo/altering it makes no difference to the playback.

Danny Lee I'm no expert on this thing but r8 only has 2 inputs which makes it hard to record a full band. dig into zoom r16 -- that one has 8 inputs for simultaneius recording which is probably closer to what youre looking for

Yes. Plug microphones into the inputs or use the built in mic.

If the house system has control room outs on the mixer, you can run them into the R8 using inputs 1 and 2 and record everything the PA hears. The result will be a recording of whatever is run through the PA, so you won't be able to edit each instrument later; but it will provide a live performance recording without having to use mics.

Same here. I still have the Zoom R8, gathering dust... but since you asked for an alternative... Mac "GarageBand" did it for me... I still have the Zoom, in case I ever learn how to use it. I even made a DRAWER for it, under my table... but its just too complicated FOR ME.

Because you always do in audio. It puts everything at an even level. Once you have all your tracks, the master allows you to control the overall level 😊

I must be stupid cuz I have no clue what he just did. I just received the R8 today. I don't have ANY Idea how to record on these dohickys. I mean....what is Phantom power ? I inherited a tascam 16 track recorder and its overwhelming for me. This R8 has less functions and buttons but still is still confusing. I hope my owners manual explains terminologies for buttons , how and why they are used.

HELP PLEASE .Need help with this sequencer thing, had it over a year now and not using it for that reason,. All I want is to play an instrument along with drum beats to record my intrument "in time" and try out other patterns later on with my performance. This is very Basic usage but can't seem to figure out how to do it, had 2 digital recorders before. Yes I did check the manual.Seems only either drum beat pre-programing or instrument recording. All i want is to have a beat playing when i record my instrument. Later to have that beat playing while i add accents and cymbales using the pads while bouncing it on a track ,like i did with my previous recorders. Basic usage,but can't figure out how to do this ,HELP!
