Long-term outcomes of psychedelic interventions appear to depend substantially on the quality of the psychedelic experience. According to most protocols for dosing sessions in contemporary psychedelic therapy research, one individual patient is supported by two guides while lying down with closed eyes and listening to music. This particular setting seems to be conducive to mystical-type and emotional breakthrough experiences, both of which are associated with long-lasting increases in well-being and reductions in psychopathology. What is the psychology behind these experiences and their therapeutic impact? What factors determine their occurrence and intensity? Should we expect different treatment settings to produce different kinds of therapeutic experiences, and thus different outcomes? What unique advantages might group settings provide in this regard? These and other exciting questions will be addressed in this conversation-based webinar with Dr. Leor Roseman. Questions and comments by the audience will be welcome.
This event will be presented by Dr. Max Wolff, a clinical psychologist and member of a study team that is currently preparing a large-scale clinical trial of psilocybin-assisted therapy for treatment-resistant depression in Germany.
