I went to the San Diego Safari Park in 2018.I would have to say, the Tiger Trail exhibit is amazing A+A+A all the way

fun fact from a former San Diego Zoo employee. the original plan for tiger trails was going to be the beginning of a much larger exhibit. it would start with tigers and hornbills, continue down to Indian dholes and end with an overlook of the Asian mammal yards but the idea was scrapped due to one of the dholes being pregnant and having puppies only 6 days after going on exhibit. you can find 3 of those pups at the bronx zoo and one at the wild in ohio.

*Question of the Episode: What is the best big cat habitat you have seen in person?:* Since I already mentioned Minnesota (Bronx isn't too far off) having the best tiger (or big cat overall) exhibit in the nation from a quality standpoint, I'll say the best one I've seen from a guest's perspective has to be the lion habitat at the Columbus Zoo. Personally the best big cat enclosure I have ever seen is the tiger exhibit at the Colmbus Zoo, simply for the fact that they have more room and more places to hide then other zoos

Nicely done with the Tiger Trail tour, Zach! And to answer your question, my favorite big cat exhibit is the Tiger Mountain at the Bronx Zoo. A modern tiger exhibit built only back in 2003 and is home to both Siberian and Malayan tigers, to which it’s a well done home for the tigers, as well as the tiger exhibit from Wild Asia Monorail which looks gorgeous to this day.

The best I've ever seen is split between several. Minnesota w/ their tiger exhibits (glad you feel the same), and the Lincoln Park lions. I'm impressed by the exhibit that goes all in without breaking the bank, and the way in which Minnesota naturally blends in with the land not once, but twice, deserves to be noted. As to Lincoln Park, rather the opposite in that one can see the money on display, but it is breathtaking in that not only is it wonderful to have something so beautiful for free, but that the lions seem to think so, too, when they practically pay their compliments to it year after year in the form of a litter. - take care, slainte chugat

Another great episode! I’m definitely looking forward to visiting the Safari Park someday, as well as the zoo. To answer your question, my favorite big cat exhibit I’ve seen so far has got to be the Tiger exhibit at the Columbus Zoo.

The best big cat enclosure I've seen in person is the tiger enclosure @ the zoo in tuscon. Cheetah valley in toledo zoo was cutting edge all through the 70's-80's... also we had a great viewing area for sigfreid and Roy's white lions till they passed a few years ago and our bears now have a great enclosure!!!

As a Big Cat Fan this is easy, yes I have been to the Safari Park and saw the Tiger Trail and it is one of my favorite exhibits for Southeast Asian Tiger Exhibit but for Amur’s although Bronx and Minnesota have some good exhibits, I personally love the Columbus Zoo’s Tiger Exhibit-not counting the boardwalk exhibits, with the multiple pools, rock formations, a cave for them to sleep and a good amount of cover

Loving this series on the SD Zoo Safari Park! As a lifelong animal lover and Southern Californian, I make it a point to visit the Wild Animal Park (I'm old enough to remember when it was called that) at least once a year. The best big cat exhibit I've come across is actually the African lion enclosure at the Safari Park (which I'm guessing may be featured in an upcoming episode). The enclosure itself is expansive and magnificently landscaped to make it look like an kopje was relocated from Eastern or Southern Africa. Plus, it has a direct line of sight (and smell) of the Park's extensive African field enclosures, meaning the lions get the stimulus from, seeing and smelling many animals they would prey upon in the wild (I think the enclosure directly across from them is the Park's large herd of nilgai) The fact that the previous generation of lions (the late, great Izu and his females) produced something like 15 cubs is testament to how comfortable the animals are in this space. The runner up would be the cheetah enclosure at The Living Desert in Palm Desert, Ca.

Awesome tour, Zak! Yet, I visited there back in 2015, which I took all 3 photos of the 3 Sumatran Tigers altogether!🐅🐅🐅 Say, visit the Woodland Park Zoo soon! And also, 9 zoo trivia questions for you & your girlfriend... 1) What date did the San Diego Zoo's Panda Trek exhibit opened the new Panda Ridge exhibit? 2) How many bottlenose dolphins does the SixFlags Discovery Kingdom park housed so far? 3) Which zoo is famous for housing raccoon dogs? 4) Which or what years did the Sacramento Zoo originally house tigers? 5) What date did the San Francisco Zoo have built the new Coquerel's Sifaka exhibit? 6) Do you prefer the Guangzhou Safari Park to house both Komodo Dragons, binturongs, & snow leopards in the future? 7) Which African Elephant at the Fresno Chaffee Zoo gave birth to a calf for the first time after 95 years? 8) Why did the Woodland Park Zoo have to say farewell to their last Malayan Tapir, Ulan? 9) Which aquarium do you think have originally house thresher sharks a long time ago? And the best Big Cat Habitat that I've seen is the SixFlags Discovery Kingdom's Cougar Rocks exhibit!

You should do more international tours. I would recommend the Mandai Wildlife Reserve in Singapore which contains four wildlife parks: Singapore Zoo, River Wonders, Night Safari, and Bird Paradise, and an upcoming one called Rainforest Wild. Also, I told you that construction on the Hippo Trail at San Diego Zoo is done.

As one who has not seen too many big cat exhibits, I’d have to say my fave is Toronto’s Amur Tiger complex. Formerly used for giant pandas, the complex is being expanded to include four outdoor yards, plus two indoor spaces. Very nice complex overall.

Best cat exhibit is Jaguar Cove at Woodland Park Zoo. Clouded Leopard at Point Defiance is simple but very good.

The best Big Cat habitat I've seen was Kilimanjaro Safari's in Disney. The lions have a ton of space to lounge and hang out and the way they presented it, it doesn't feel like you're looking at them through a barrier (even though there is one). The runners up are Philadelphia Zoo's Big Cat Falls (where's the overhead tunnels allow the cats to move through enclosures) and the Bronx Zoo's Africa and Tiger Mountain

The best big cat exhibit I've seen has to be the lions at Lincoln Park Zoo. Its pretty big, but also has a ton of viewing points, and while I can't explain why, the lions always seem more active than the ones at other zoos.

To me, the best big cat enclosure would be pride rock at Kilimanjaro safari. Followed by Jungala at Busch Gardens Tampa

I had no idea it opened the same year as Jacksonville’s Land of the Tiger! Would you say that Jacksonville has the best Indonesian themed tiger exhibit on the east coast and San Diego has the best one on the west coast?
