It's theorized that Titus is representative of pre Mery Sue Ultramarines. Who where humble grounded and saw the Codex as a guide not a inflexible set of rules. And Leandros is the post Ultramarines, who are not.

Avenger85438 I actually like the Ultrasmerfs anal commitment to the codex. In my opinion it makes them less Mary Sue since they just don’t do what seems right atm like every other hero, but have a strict set of sometimes Byzantine and counterproductive rules to follow. At least the blueberry have a flaw in this respect being way too lawful neutral-good, instead of going gung-ho and and doing what is “right” like any other cliched action hero.

Aquila well I think that’s up to shitty writing more than the concept of the Ultramarines specifically. If there was a story we’re the blueberries fully embody their inhuman nature and abscond from basic human decency to follow the codex and then get accolades for it, that would be pretty interesting. I mean the recruits they get from a surprisingly wide array of sources thanks to issues with chaos corruption of their gene seed, and Fabius Bile wanting to make the selection criteria as hilariously difficult as possible. They might select for some ruthless personality traits rather than good character, for example.

Your video made me understand, even more than before, just how much the devs knew and loved 40k. I don't know how it happens, but it's always really apparent when the devs care. And from the way the bolters sound, the way Titus' weight feels just right (in a Goldilocks zone between an unstoppable tank and a skilled soldier), and the way Ork blood spews everywhere when you blow their head with your bolter, it's obvious that the devs wanted to be a badass Space Marine as much as the players. Space Marine is a game that is so much fun, Titus is fucking awesome, he's cold blooded, calm, and voiced by Mark Strong himself, should be considered canon, Sidonus is a hero, he's a gentleman, not a Xenophobic soldier like others, as a Veteran, he seen alot of war, and learned alot about it, i even like Leandros, he's a young Space Marine, he's learning, the game soundtrack is perfect, the game is quite difficult, the multiplayer is impeccable, Exterminatus was really fun and a great way to spend time, -UNTIL THE FUCKING KOMBI-SHOOTA NOBZ APPEARED- , this game is a forgotten masterpiece, the graphics are really good, and it runs on almost every computer, i encourage every hardcore 40k fan and even people discovering this amazingly rich universe, to spend a few hours to try this game, a pretty straightforward game, but it makes you feel immersed, and if you beaten it, play again, its not rage inducing, it is satisfiying and a really good way to spend hours or to chill your head.

I don't see anything inherently *wrong* about the Primaris Marines other than them changing things up. Let's face it, 40k couldn't stay the same forever. It'd make no more money at some point, and after some years, probably 3-5 give or take, people would lose interest in it. (I'd say longer, but the attention span of people these days is like that of a fucking squirrel...) And Warhammer 40k would die a cold, unsatisfying end. (Though that would be poetic considering that's kinda 40k's thing... But be honest, from a story telling standpoint, who'd really want that?) Really the only reason I can see as to why people give the Primaris so much hate is because it's.. Different. It changes things. It brings forth a whole new era. Whether y'all like it or hate it, it makes sense for these beings to be created. If you think from the shoes of Guilliman, Khan, Dorn, or shit, even just a citizen of the Imperium, these guys NEED to be made. The enemies of the Imperium grow stronger, deadlier, and overall better. So it only makes sense to have YOUR soldiers be stronger, deadlier, and overall better as well. The Emperor absolutely will return.. We all know that deep down. One day, he shall live again. But there needs to be someone to hold the line until the almighty Emperor returns. And even Guilliman cannot do that himself. Even if the other remaining loyalist Primarchs return, the enemies of the Imperium may very well be too strong for even just them. They need better soldiers as well. If the Emperor is to return, someone needs to hold the line. And that, as much as y'all don't like it, has to be the Primaris Marines. I see allot of people throw hate at them for being "Perfect, and without flaws" but oh boy.. Primaris Marines are still just as flawed as their Space Marine predecessors. All Marines are inherently flawed. All HUMANS are inherently flawed. On a species wide scale, and as individuals. No one and nothing is Perfect. I like the Primaris Marines. They look badass, they ARE badass, and they end the stalemate that has been 40k for a long time. I would NOT mind Titus being converted into a Primaris Marine. Not only would he be able to kick even MORE ass than before, but he'd bring his way of thinking and his Philosophies into the Primaris Marines. Titus was not the only one in his company to think like him. Sidonus though of the Codex Astartes just as Titus did. And so did MOST other Astartes in his company. (With Leandros as one of the exceptions... Fucking dickhead... Probably sucks Cato's dick for a living now..) Would it really hurt to have Primaris Marines that think like Titus? Titus is the Ultramarine NO ONE can hate. So why would it hurt for him to bring his philosophy and teachings to other Primaris Marines?...

Adamantium shell with diamond tip and antimatter charge is when you roll critical success. On usual roll, it's _just_ a 20mm gyrojet grenade launcher. Sadly most videogame fans have no idea about firepower of actual irl guns like _just_ GSh-23 for example. There is a reason 40k is making constant references to weapons of real world and history and that is to give players point of reference. If someone believes that boltgun fire shots equal to nuke with every shot, then they clearly failed both 40k lore and irl physics. P.S.: you've also forgot to mention that in the genre of hack&slash, Space Marine is the rarest example of having BOTH guns and melee be useful and fun. Now if only Platinum games can be hired to make Revengeance 2 and follow up this little note...

The Guard are so underepresented in 40k it's not even funny. I don't like them myself, but they deserve nothing short of undying respect. That would be so good, but at the same time there's a big problem with the IG: They are cannon fodder. by definitition you are going to die and die and die and die and die over and over and over again. It's how the game handles death that'll make or break that hypothetical game.

Sections that probably would see you fleeing in order to survive lol. Lasguns may get called glorified flashlights all the time, but they are quite capable of killing just about any Tyranid that isn't titan sized with enough hits. I think it would work best it you found yourself mostly facing smaller Tyranids, things that a lone Guardsman COULD kill with larger beasties being bosses, potentially ones that you are provided with better/mounted weapons/backup to deal with. You'd be stretching the realms of plausibility for a lone guardsman to take out a Hive Tyrant with a lasgun.

Man, i remember being genuinely hyped for this game, when i heard it was being made. It was a dream of mine to play as a single space marine ever since i started playing dawn of war(and started learned about the 40k lore). And the combat is damn satisfying. Every shot and attack being so incredibly full of force and violence. Absolutely loved it. Nice video!

Captain Titus is in my opinion one of the best ultra smurfs in entire 40k. This is mostly due to him following Codex Astartes AS IT SHOULD BE FOLLOWED! It's a guide, set of rules that are suppose to give you direction on which you make your own choices, NOT BLINDLY FOLLOWING IT! His last words in the game to that young Smurf, perfectly summarizes that. I'm sure that if Girlyman will ever meet him, he will become a chapter master.

Authors keep forgetting that Kato Sicarius exists. He became the captain of the 2nd Company after the Battle for Macragge and I do not know when the Invasion of Graia is placed in the timeline, but The Ultramarine movie had a stained galss window potraying the Tyranid invasion, so Cato should've been there. Also, Sidonus lives in our hearts. Both of them.

And apparently the working theory about captain Titus, is that after the events of this game he gets taken by the inquisition, put on a pentant crusade, became the last surviving member of the crusade and then ship off to the deathwatch with a new name. This lack of a captain in the 2nd chapter lead to sicarius becoming the new captain of the 2nd chapter... welcome

At 10:05, a lot of other games who try to introduce "glory kills" or "executions" have the same issue, causing all of the health you worked hard to get to then suddenly disappear. However, this sort of a system was fixed in DOOM 2016 where when you do a glory kill you *are* invincible. As long as the executions and the health gain isn't too slow, then they should have done what DOOM 2016 would end up doing.

I haven't played Space Marine (yet), though what you're saying about executions to get back health is fascinating. This feature is literally so good at keeping the player in combat, that ID literally ripped it off for their Doom reboot for exactly that purpose. That kinda fascinates me and also wants me to play the game even more.

Space Marine was what got me INTO the universe. I wanted to learn more about the lore, the weapons, the different legions. All that stuff. I happened by it in a target one day and thought it looked interesting. Had a chance to grab it at gamestop later down the road and I took it. I do not regret it, having coming off Gears of War at the time, I felt right at home with it. LOVE this game.

Agreed on all counts. I got into Dawn of War and tabletop simultaneously, and love them dearly. But I’d been following this game’s development since that old demo where they fought Word Bearers in that Imperial Shrine looking thingy, and upon release, was still blown away. The story may be generic, but GW sort of is too, so it fits. And Mark Strong is perfect in the role. When he busts into the dressing room in the mall in Shazam, it just seemed like old hat for him. Great vidya.

I know I'm super late but this kind of vid is awesome to see once in a while, even if it is an "unstructured mess". Something genuine from the ehart goes a long way rather than the usual review or something similar. It also helps that you have an awesome voice and do these inflations at the perfect time to give the video the levity needed and the humour necessary for a Warhammer 40K subject, as many people just take it super seiously and it often goes over their heads how over-the-top and at times funny, WH40K is supposed to be, despite its grittiness. The Orks and of course the bastard fek, Leandros, are prime examples of that.
