welcome to last december (2024 version)! so! the original song was written in 2014, nina officially released it in 2019 and I used it for a video I posted in january 2023 (it makes sense because of the ending of that version that I did it in january and not in december, I promise). it's the continuation of things I say when you sleep, which also has its video. things I say when you sleep: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6jGdWNoiLiqbpI the original last december: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5DQg32NgcqXgtE well, a month and a half ago nina revealed that there was an extra verse and that she was going to release that new version. and I promised myself that I would make a new video as soon as she did it. finally she released it on november 22nd and it was perfect, because I had a week to get it ready for the beginning of the month (and even more, but the first few days after I was still finishing apt). if you've read me every time I've explained this you'll be sick of it but you never know when someone is reading it for the first time. I'm going to copy what I said on tumblr: this song talks about nina's relationship with her current boyfriend. she wrote it years ago during a period of time when they had broken up and, although they had gotten back together by then, she released it on her second studio album as she originally wrote it as a follow-up to things I say when you sleep because the feelings embodied in both songs are closely related and both are about the same time period. this song is a fan favorite and, considering she and her boyfriend have been together for almost a decade now, I guess she thought it was nice to update the song. I was debating whether to do a short with the extra verse alone or the whole song and, as you can see, I opted for the latter because I think the extra verse is much, much better in the context of the song. in essence you won't see anything new until you get to it but I still made some minor changes in some old parts. also, thanks to me for putting in the description of my videos which episodes I used to make them, it made it really easy for me. and fun fact! that boyfriend produced this version!
