Zorro is an American action-adventure western drama series produced by Walt Disney Productions. It is the story of the only son of Don Alejandro who returns to 1820s California to fight the corrupt local military.
He plays the foppish dandy by day and the masked swordsman Zorro who slashes "Z"s everywhere by night. His horses (black and white) are Tornado and Phantom. Based on the well-known Zorro character created by Johnston McCulley, the series premiered on October 10, 1957 on ABC. The final network broadcast was July 2, 1959. Seventy-eight episodes were produced, and 4 hour-long specials were aired on the Walt Disney anthology series between October 30, 1960 and April 2, 1961.
The show was very popular, especially with children, and its theme song (written by Norman Foster and George Bruns and first recorded by the Mellomen) was a hit recording for The Chordettes, peaking at #17 on the Hit Parade. It also created a problem with "Z" graffitiing on school desks and walls across the United States.

Class of Y2K, I remember watching this on the Disney Channel. Our high schools mascot was the Marauder. He would dress up like Zorro with red accents. The actual logo however had him on his horse, just like Zorro rides. School was built in the 80s, named after some rich white guy who donated the land, so no idea why they went with a knock off Zorro or marauder. It did, however, make the late 90s Sony movie of Zorro that much more special.

Just wanted to add a comment… I see a few that said as a kid they watched Zorro on Disney channel. As for me, I can remember watching it when it first aired back in the 50s. I too had the costume for Halloween and kept wearing it after. Running around the house scratching Z on everything… my mom didn’t like that though. Of course my own Tornado…an old stick horse from an old mop that my mom had thrown away. Memories of my youth… Still wear the costume when I go to Halloween parties… and I am almost 70 years old.

I was introduced to this back in the 90s on the old Disney Channel when they used to air something called "Vault Disney". Y'all 90s kids remember THAT? Spin and Marty, The Mickey Mouse Club, Zorro and other old shows Disney made in the 1950s. It was priceless! Guy Williams was the best Zorro!

I am right there with ya, i stayed with my grandparents a lot when i was young and would stay up all hours of the night to watch this along with the other programs that were shown during vault disney (will never forget the intro which was like a mini coaster ride that passed by all the scenes of the movies and tv shows). Eventually my grandfather started recording all of zorro on vhs and i now have a stack of them put away( pretty sure i have most if not all episodes). I even got to watch and record the scarecrow of romney marsh which to my knowledge only aired one time in the 90's(twice if you take into account it was a 3 part mini series that aired during a two night span, first part one night and the second and third the next).

@@seenasoltani239 everything you just said is wrong. First, according to the year of airing and the acting skills of the time, zorro's acting its pretty solid. Second, zorro trama is heavy as fuck. Like, breaking bad, so sad a poor Man stuck in a elitist system of health gets Forced to do the one thing he is capable of. Chemistry. Instead, in the Zorro, we had racism, colonialism, lots of violence, corruption, abuse of power, abuse of woman, tirany and conspiracy (over and over), and a f*****g lot more of issues of that time that still are present to this day, I this our very world. And all this, trama, was geniusly fitted on a Disney tv show for kids. Plus, the zorro, teaches heroism, loyalty, being a gentleman, educated and fierce good person. Breaking bad teaches what? When life gets heavy just break the law, be a bitch about it, abandono your family, bring pain and missery to everyone around you? Shame on you to trash talk the masterpiece of the Zorro with Breaking Bad.

It is a shame that Zorro lasted only two seasons. Guy Williams went on to star in 'Lost in Space'. Unfortunately his role on that program became less noticeable as the show focused on Dr. Smith and the robot to the point that Williams' character became more of a walk-on role.

This is something Dracula would not be happy about at all!!!! Then the sun shines through the curtains Zorro has cut up and finishes Dracula off. However, the movie does not end there. Zorro takes out a bottle of Sulfuric Acid and quickly pours it onto the ashes destroying them completely. And says to himself "Sorry Clove ... not this time!!!" Lol!!!!

@PepsiVor You don't understand the facts. The thing is that Putler is the same as Hitler (A.H.), that is, he murders children, women, civilians, he accepts rapes, torture, theft, and destroys entire cities. And it cannot be explained by the biography of the long deceased (!) Bandera. The thing is, NOTHING nothing protects Putler's crimes. You cannot destroy an entire nation because there once was some bad man (such as Bandera). The Azov's influence on politics in Ukraine is marginal. In the 2020 local government elections, the party won 0.4 per mille (!) of all available seats. There is a president in Ukraine who is a democrat, and there is also a democratic majority in the Ukrainian parliament who conducts a policy that is not related to Nazism! Russia's attack on Ukraine is a crime. Russia's way of waging war is terrorist and anti-human, modeled on A.H. It is Russia that needs denazification and not only Putler is to blame, but the entire nation that accepts the criminal policy of its authorities. The Germans were to blame, not only A.H. It is the same with Russia's policy now. EDIT. Today honest and good people SUPPORT Ukraine!

LOVED Zorro !!!! Guy Williams? I had my tonsils out that first year, I think I was 8, at Children’s Hospital. Halloween was coming & told my mom I wanted to be Zorro for Halloween, so she was working on making costume when I got out of the hospital. She made a big black cape,, & she made a mask that fit me just right. She must have looked at pictures of Zorro. I had a black hat just like Zorro’s & I had a sword. I felt GREAT in my Zorro costume, My mom drew a mustache above my upper lip, I was HIM. we got to wear our costumes to school on Halloween in those days & would have parade around the school at the end of the day

I watched this show when I was in grade school and am watching it again now. Anybody else feel that Hogan's Heroes borrowed from this? --- Kommandant Klink and El Commandate, Sgt Schultz and Sgt Garcia, Zorro and Hogan both blatant wise guys. Zorro is a great show!

I am currently watching yet another rerun of Zorro (don't remember its network run on ABC-TV). Exciting series. Guy Williams did the character proud in his portrayal. Thank you for the opening and closing credits.

The cast listing at the end has Guy Williams--he was from the 1957 series. I believe this is the b&w 1957 series, colorized. Certainly the Z that he carved in the villain's pants is exactly as I remember when watching the 1957 series during its original run when I was 5. :)

My first introduction to Zorro was watching the 1998 movie as a kid in Nigeria.....in 2003😂 Yeah, it was free on cable and I was a little boy looking for any entertainment and the swashbuckling antics immediately hooked me! This is the first time I have seen this theme and now I want to watch the original show and even more media featuring one of my favorite heroes.

Wish Disney Plus had the whole series and not just The Sign of Zorro ie the cobbled together movie of the first eight episodes. Still, better than nothing right now and hopefully down the road they put the whole series available for streaming on their service.

Out of the night...when the full moon is bright...comes the horseman known as Zorro. The black mask and flying cape... The black spanish hat and Toledo sword... The black stallion Tornado, skylined in the moonlight... And that flashing smile that wins every senorita's heart. Zorro had it all. What's not to love amigo?
