Zortman, Montana

Zortman, Montana is an old mining town established in the late 1800’s. Around 1884 a major gold strike was made, and the population grew to more than 2,000 people. It is estimated that the mines in Zortman produced over $125 million in gold by 1949. Not much is left of this once booming town, but it is still very beautiful and if you so happen to be close it is worth taking the time for a stop. We only had a couple hours to explore and spent most of that time at the old St. Joseph Catholic Church, although this church is not currently in use, but they do have a new church with easier access in town and the services are every Sunday at 11:00 am if you are interested.
