Thank you for this video. But I was hoping that you would say something about PDFs that don't have metadata, for example Thesis' that are on your PC. I can't get the name right.

Thanks for your comment. You can enter that data manually. Go to 1:00 in the video. Under more, select thesis. Then you can enter the data, and Zotero will generate the citation for you.

Hi, Thanks for your answer. I did it on my own, more or less the same way like you suggest. I chose document instead. It was helpful in the end :=D

Hi Nicholas, Thanks for sharing this very well explained and helpful video. I have a query about dragging and dropping PDFs directly into Zotero from desktop or any other folder on the PC (as you explained in the video at 7.35 mins). My query is, if I drag and drop an article from the desktop but then move it elsewhere (for example, in a folder on one of my internal drives) what happens to the article in Zotero? Would it not be visible anymore or would it remain unaffected? Similarly, if I have dragged and dropped an article from a folder but then delete or shift+delete the article from that folder (and hence, effectively from my PC) does it mean that I will lose the article from Zotero as well? Please advice. Thanks in advance of your support! :)

Hi Ruchi. Thanks for your message. The moment you add a file to Zotero (for example, dragging it from your desktop), Zotero saves a copy of the file your Zotero data directory. So you have two copies of the PDF, one on your Desktop and one in a folder in Zotero. So if you move or delete the copy on your Desktop, it will not affect your Zotero library. The same holds true for the second scenario you mentioned. When you add the file to Zotero, the program copies the file and saves it to a new location. If you delete the original file, there will be no issue with Zotero. Good luck with your research and writing!
