You know, as sad as it is to see Apollo show how much Clay Terran's death affected him, I really hate how we never saw any bonding time between them as best friends in the previous game Apollo Justice, let alone his name mentioned there. Heck, I don't think he was even mentioned in Spirit of Justice either, which would have been appropriate considering he lost his adoptive father in it. Would have been a nice to get a mention if nothing else to show how losing another loved one affected him. As good as this case is, this part really felt awkward and forced in terms of the story. I mean, how am I supposed to connect and care about what happened to Apollo when we never saw him and Clay together beforehand to show how strong their friendship was?

They are Raiden-ing Apollo so hard in this game...and they are succeeding. He has become so much more likable and interesting of a character than in his first game. Before he was just a Phoenix fanboy, now he's got some deep hidden anger and issues, and he doubts himself, and he makes mistakes, and he has something to lose...in other words, he's a real person. Well done Capcom, I never thought I would like or fully accept Apollo as a replacement for Phoenix, but my opinion is improving more and more.

It was a test, and it probably got rejected thanks to the dark age of the law. Phoenix did warn in AJ that a dark time was coming. I would like to see the jurist system revisited in a future game myself, though.

Yes, he meant the first case in Apollo Justice Ace Attorney. Imagine if you were finally hired by someone, only to convict your boss. After Apollo proved Gavin's guilt, he could no longer work as a lawyer because the office he worked in closed (or he was fired) and he had trouble finding work, until finally he started working for Wright

For a game about the dark age of the Law, this game isn't nearly Kafkaesque enough. The game is still marked, as always, by a healthy amount of Kafka's ideas, but other games in the series have actualized Kafka's nightmares with far more clarity.
