This review just goes to show how different everyone’s hands (and tastes) can be. I own this knife and have used it hard. I freaking love it. Amazing ergonomics and still slices well considering the stock. It’s staying in my rotation for sure.
@disco4535 Жыл бұрын
Exactly. Talking about "Ergonomics" in a review is almost pointless because of how subjective it is. The 0562 doesnt feel great in my hand but fits my brother like a glove.

I've own 4 hinderers, 1 strider, and many CRKs. Guess what? Zt 0562 is better than all I mentioned. I prefer the cf model. Crk is still cpm s35vn which is the norm. Hinderers, well they are amazing! But honestly , do a blind test , and this is slicier. My top 5 of all time.
@Phaminator5252 жыл бұрын
I think this knife is better than the hinderer xm 18 depending on what model, but def not better than CRKs in terms of hard use. CRKs have tighter tolerances and are all on a bronze bushing system so it has less of a chance to mess up the action. Also CRKs are slicier in my opinion with the holow grind and thinner blade stock. But ZT0562 def is better than most hinderers. Except the xm-18 skinny slicer grind one.

This knife is marketed and praised as a hard use, overbuilt like a tank pry bar that’s capable of slicing, although not it’s strong suit, obviously. I appreciate your review on this blade. Even though you basically complained on everything that the knife was designed to be. So, basically it delivered on, what it is supposed to be, but that’s not what you wanted out of it. Just curious, what exactly does it not cut well? Besides, perhaps food prep, or slicing cheese and fruit.

I absolutely love my 0562. The M390 is hard to sharpen without stones, but Ive used it HARD and its toit like when it was new. It cuts and it takes a beating. I do agree about the painted clips though- Id prefer an unfinished clip that doesnt get chips in the coating.

You ever cut old gas line with a knife that’s thin behind the edge? I have and I can tell you most Spyderco’s will just roll the edge and you’ll be able to feel with your fingernail.
@lenzielenski3276 Жыл бұрын
Don't get me wrong but "hard use" doesn't have to be that hard to make a difference. I own both the Gail Bradley and several ZT0562's. Doing something as simple as slicing open a box sealed with paper tape that conceals staples can and will notch a GB while the 0562 just laughs at it. Is it my choice if I'm slicing up a pile of boxes? No. But I often do carry it and have no fears doing prying or chopping or other "inappropriate" jobs with it. It IS right at my limit in weight for a carry knife. In fact, I'll only carry it in jeans for that reason. Could it be a little thinner behind the edge? Sure, that would be nice. If they ever decide to release it with a hollow grind, I'll be first in line. Meanwhile for opening packages, shaping a wood handle and as an emergency screw driver, it works just fine for me...and its fun to fiddle with. As to "its not the best..", well, its not supposed to be. Its an ONLY tool, the one you use when you only have ONE THING with you. Yes, the right tool for the right job. So, if you want to carry a leatherman, a knife and a pry bar all the time, great. If you're only going to carry one relatively small tool this hard use knife is great.

I agree with every single point you make about this knife. I own it, and I love it. But it never gets carried or used. It's just a flipper toy. But if you were out in the woods I bet you could baton the thing (I don't go out in the woods much anymore, and if I did I would just bring a hatchet). Out of the hundreds of knives I own (from $10 to $5000 in value) my most carried/used is a William Henry B12 Attache (Rockwell 67 -ZDP with DLC coating). Absolute perfect video, keep it up...

All mine are made in the USA except one Boker slip joint Solingen, Germany and the HEST T3 Triple Black, but that was made in Maniago, Italy - I could let that slide because Italy and Maniago itself is arguably the best place to get you a sweet piece. That piece is incredible IMO.

I love this knife, which I own. But for some reason I don't like Hinderer knives, absolutely no interest in them 😅 Not sure what you can't cut with it for everyday usage. And for bushcraft it's pretty solid too. I will admit my reground Recon 1 does everything this ZT does but better. Cuts wood better, better ergos, better locking system, stealthier (joke), indestructible. But this ZT is cooler to show off, carries better and has superior steel. And the sound it makes woooo! It is just a solid tool.

@bibigreen6533 Жыл бұрын
@@greekveteran2715 I mean for EDC I'd say the ZT has better ergos, but for bushcraft CS has better ergos. I ended up selling my ZT and keeping the CS, which I deeply regret. I've had many folders, but the ZT0562ti is the most satisfying one for me. More than the Shaman, the Spydiechef, and all the other solid knoves I've had. I miss it. It's also the deepest possible carry, which I adore.

Ok so let’s talk about thickness behind the edge. I went through a bunch of my collection to measure the thickness behind the edge: BM Bugout: 25 thou. 2 BM 940s: 32 thou. BM Griptillian: 31 thou. Spyderco Para 3: 33 thou. Spyderco PM2: 33 thou. ZT 0562Ti: 27 thou. ZT 0452Ti: 34 thou. So overall in reality 30 thou is completely inline with other knife manufacturers, and I’d consider it acceptable. On the other hand I think 10 thou is rather unrealistic unless we are looking at customs or chef knives. I make some knives on the side and tend to shoot for 10-15 because anything less is rather weak and susceptible to damage. Just my $0.02

C’mon. With studs or flippers the INITIAL grip is equally useless. Both require a reposition. The only blade that is usable from the get go is a fixed blade. BTW … those aren’t thumb studs - they are a blade stop.

Stopped at 6:14 to comment. What you just said is THE reason why I never popped on ZT. I handled 4 different ones at a knife store in Newport, KY (that sadly a month and a half ago when I called - said they were boxing everything up and closing the doors for good) named the Cecil Knife Company. That place seemingly had been there forever. Gone. Done.

Did you sharpen this knife and it didn't cut well? I don't own it, but all knife people are saying that this is the BEST ZT knife, and many of them, are saying, that this is their alltime best knife. How can so many people, say that this is their best knife ever, (one of them also mentioned, that he likes it better, than his custom knives) and you, say that it's not that good, it's not a good cutter etc. I'm asking because I was ready to get it, as my 1st quality knife. I never had anything better than an Opinel or a Victorinox. What should you get, if you could only have 1?
@itsaknifestyle84823 жыл бұрын
What I’m talking about is the edge geometry of the knife, not the edge sharpness. This knife is very thick behind the edge which makes it more difficult to pass through materials like cardboard. A sharp knife will cut paper, but that doesn’t matter if this knife is so thick that it struggles to pass through materials. If I could only have one knife in this price range it would be the Spyderco Gayle Bradley 2, next to that would be the Microtech LUDT

Ummmm use the GB2 the way YOU want but "slicers" are not designed for what most people call "hard use" (e.g. tasks that would make a thin behind the edge blade chip or even break...the tip. Cutting 50 boxes down to size for recycleing is not "hard use".. What gets me also is hw "enthusiasts" use terms like "EDC" whene really wnat is meant is "everyday use"....whatever that means. What do "enthusiasts" use their $200 pocket knives for "everyday"??? "daily box cutting" :)) "EDC" was borrowed from the gun community--which refers to "...being prepared for that unthinkable moment when they need to protect tehir life or the life of friends/family ...using lethal force". A day most hope will never come. (...I don''t believe in it....civilians carrying pistols or revolvers for "situations" which will essentially be SWAT type senarios they aren't ready for nor trained for). ..but the "gun nerds" do it "...EDCing pistols/knives/flashlights/phone, keys....etc. :))
