I was playing this song in my bedroom the other day and my roommate's 7 year old son (who was in the other room watching cartoons) stopped what he was doing and peeked his head in and said "Who's that? That's really cool". He stood there and listened to the whole song before skipping back to his cartoons. I was so proud I could've cried!!!

What I love about this man is that every performance is different. He never sounds the same and it's awesome! He just feels the moment. He's also a brilliant lyricist and story teller. Tom Waits makes my soul happy!

Sounds like 'Til the money runs out but I'm no expert. I can think of a couple of songs that use that riff, After Dark by Tito and Tarantula being the first one that comes to mind.

In fact, there's a song from "top Jimmy and the rhythm pigs" that use that riff (the song is called 'she ugly') and by the way, Carlos guitarlos who is the guitar player of that band is the same guitarist that recorded the guitars in the whole heartattack and vine album.

Love it.Reading a book on Waits now...a few years before this LP, his manager sent him out on tours opening for Frank Zappa (?!) whose fans booed him every night. Tom pocketed the cash, grew a thick skin and kept at it... and he's still around. Tough as old boots.
Just saw his amazing acting in Netflix’s ballads of buster Scruggs directed by the Coen Brothers. So real no matter what he does. What a talent!
