WW definitely wanted to make another CnC. They were working on CNC3, which then became CnC Generals. That version of CnC3 was called Tiberian Twilight I think, but not the CnC4-TT.

***** Westwood doesn't exist anymore, and many of the people who made CnC, CnC don't work at Petroglyph. Dustin Browder, for example, who was one of the Game Designers of RA2, now works at Blizzard. Louis Castle and Brett Sperry don't work at Petroglyph, either. So, basically, the people that made CnC aren't there anymore, so why would their games play like CnC? Many other developers, like Eric Gooch, who played Seth in CnC1, and designed units up to RA2, now works at 343. If we want a new CnC, we'll have to do it ourselves, and avoid calling it CnC. Maybe I'll get to it after I'm done with my current game.

Back when this came out, I remember visiting a friend who had it on his computer. I remember drooling over how realistic it looked. Pixilation aside, they really did a number on the shading and animations (especially with fire) for it's time. It was top notch.

Its freeware now, free to download and play. C&C, Red Alert 1, and Tiberian Sun I believe are all freeware. You need windows 7/8/10 patches to run them though, but perfectly legal.
