Zu Audio DW6 : Moved into the studio

Moved the DW6 into the studio. Set up on rollers for adjusting placement. Powered by 1977 Sansui AU-417 and fed with 1979 Sansui SR-838 turntable.

Excellent speakers. I love mine. They’re paired with a pioneer SX-1250. Took me a while to figure out placement but what worked for me was to move them about 8 feet apart and toe them in about 20 degrees. I love the sound that comes out of these things.

Thank you for the video, I wish there were more out here featuring Zu speakers, as they simply knock my socks off with what they are able to do. I have a question, are your DW6's pressurizing your room with the bass, like well below 35Hz bass that you can feel in your chest, floor and adjacent rooms? I just rearranged my living room, removed furniture, new DW6 Supreme placement, etc... I did add a new set of feet to the Zu's, I have them elevated 1 1/2 inch in the front, 3/4 inches in the back. Speakers are now up against a glass wall with sheer curtains. I am using a Sansui 4000 vintage 1970 receiver. I am blown away at the sudden increase in the bass output. These two speakers are going so low that it is, and I hate this term, pressurizing the room. And it sounds fantastic once I dialed them in. The only time I have experienced sound like this is at a live venue. Are you experiencing the same with your Sansui/DW6 rig? I wish I had an SPL meter here to measure, but I don't. The reason I ask, is that I have not heard of anyone having this experience with their Zu's. I have two SVS SB3000 subs in the room, and I had to turn them both down to their lowest available settings on both low pass and volume, I essentially had the volume off. I should have turned them off, but I was having too much fun! These Zu's were digging deep, and I mean DEEP, they were projecting the low frequencies to the point you could feel a wall of pressure when you walked up to them, from say six feet away. I have never owned a pair of speakers that could do this. Is it the Sansui? I believe it is, thoughts? Need to start a thread over at AK... Again, thanks for taking the time to put this video together and posting it, your system sounds fantastic sir.

Between your Klipsch Forte's and these DW6's, please tell us which pair have the edge in lower volume, late night listening? Thanks!

ZU. Without question. Love the Forte though. No shade at Klipsch.

No Forte's, DW6 Supremes, but I can second that the Zu's are incredible for low listening with my Sansui 4000. I did a dB reading at my normal listening position, roughly 15 feet from the speakers, 70dB was the reading. On the Sansui that is not quite 9 o'clock on the volume knob. The volume knob is at zero at roughly the 0630 position. So, not much at all will get you clean sound, with the detail and the bass. I rarely ever get past 10 o'clock, no need to, these speakers are that good.
