I just across this song and this artist. I had to make a comment because her rendition of this song, which has to be one of the most covered songs of all time, every notable artist has done. I’ve been around since the Drifters first had the big hit with it. It’s a great song and I’ve listened to a million versions. I am writing to tell all that read this, this is the BEST one! I never listened close enough all those other times to really get the song. I would just hum the chorus line not really following the full meaning of the song. This girl forces you to understand what it is about by the soulful, emotional way she sings it. She is SO AWESOME!!! She makes it feel like she is wrote the song about HER guy that she loves SO MUCH that she cuts him so slack and gives him a little treat because she just loves him so much she is just giving him a little present for the night. She trusts his love. Her slower rendition and her unique phrasing completely changes this into beautiful love ballad with so much love in it. The way she phrasing the “save the last dance for me” is completely different than any other version. Her phrasing on it, totally changes the song into an incredible, ballad of love so deep that she is willing to let him hold another woman for a few moments for a treat like sparkling wine, but she knows he’ll be coming back to her at the end because their love is so strong! I’ve never heard another version that captures the true sense of what this song is really about. Her body language in the video, even though she is lip synching herself, just adds to the soulfulness of the song. Her voice, her everything, puts her version in a league by itself over all the superstars……!
