Just one thing from testing. if you let yourself get to 100 insanity for mind sear you are almost certainly overcapping a bit. This is often worth it, but the ideal scenario is if you have a passive insanity generator out(aka mind bender, 1 or more void tendrils, or a large amount of vampiric touches due to maddening touch), you can actually start channelling at like 95 insanity and because you generate that last 5 before you get to the last tick, you will still get a full channel. This fully optimizes your insanity use because you don't lose any to overcapping. I haven't managed to do a 5 tick mind sear yet, but I imagine with enough passive generation it should be possible.

Shadow has become my favorite ranged DPS by far! If you're on the fence about which ranged spec to choose, consider S-Priest, it's insane right now!

So when it comes to boss fights do we use mind sear still or devouring plague? Still trying to figure out this rotation lol. Warlock wasn't as many buttons as this 😅

You want to try to keep Devouring Plague up on the boss as long as you can. It synergizes with our Mastery, making us do more damage overall. If you get a free proc on Devouring Plague, make sure to space it out on the enemy so that it always has the dot on them if possible.

M+ and PvP are such different forms of content. For PvP I'm not really sure because I don't do it enough. For M+, Demolock is the king right now and Shadow Priest would follow right behind it. :)

Mr Zuco, quick question and i am sorry if you covered it already. With the Mind Sear build does DP become non existent in the DPS rotation as we are saving all the insanity and procs for Mind Sear?

Not necessarily. I've been fiddling with this a lot on live servers... Devouring Plague still has tremendous value in ST situations because of our Mastery increasing all damage due to our dots. However, I've found as soon as you add even 1 additional target, Mind Sear is just better... Also... If I am below 50 insanity on any fight, including ST fights, and I get a proc of Mind Devourer (free use of a spender), I should press Mind Sear EVERY TIME. It will just do wayyyy more damage. That free proc is giving you a fully channeled Mind Sear (worth 100 insanity)... If you spend the free proc on DP, it's only worth 50 Insanity... So there is some important min-maxing to be done in a lot of situations like that and it makes S-Priest really dynamic. :)

Why you dont use Mind flay Insanity and Mindspike ?

They both accomplish the same thing... They both cleave damage from Psychic Link and they are both filler spells when you have no other buttons left... Taking a point in Mind Spike means I'm losing a point somewhere else that would give me more damage. :)

Mind Sear does more damage overall then Devouring Plague... However, your Mastery + multiple talents make Devouring Plague more important on ST. Stacking DP also has no diminishing returns.

Remember as well, that getting a Mind Sear proc also gives you a Devouring Plague proc.

Whenever you gather 50 insanity or a free proc you immediately (top prio) spend it on the appropriate spell for the situation: mindsear for aoe, DP for single target. That simple.

This helped me out so much. I’m so dumb I didn’t even know about mind devour. I found a really cool weak aura to track it. Looks like the mind blast proc but it’s in the left and right side instead. Playing around mind sear is a game changer. I wasn’t even really using it. Now I actually top the meters in dungeons some of the time. They seem like they will be super strong in dragonflight. With the mind games heal, is it only a single target heal on yourself? Or is it aoe? Or it just depends on the type of damage going out? I’d like to be smarter about casting that. With vampiric embrace, halo, and mind games you can really help a healer out! Thank you thank you thank you

Nope, it's the same build still. :) They just brought Shadow Priests aoe damage ceiling down a bit. We do less damage to really huge packs of mobs, like 15+ enemies... But we deal more damage to packs that are roughly 8 enemies or less. :)

One question, since you stack Mind Blasts for more burst damage and then chain them all at once, isn't it a damage loss in case you get two Mind Devourer procs between 2 casts since you cast them back to back? Like, you do 2 Mind Blasts and get a proc from both of them, since you don't have a filler between both Mind Blasts there's a chance of overwriting the procs, how do you deal with that? Do you just cancel your Mind Blast and go into Mind Sear or should you use a filler between every MB for 1 GCD or is it not important?

100% Yes, you are thinking about this the correct way. I'm sure I cast 2 Mind Blasts back to back and probably had a Mind Devourer Proc that I completely wasted. That is something I gotta work on and part of the skill expression with S-Priest now... Bottom Line. Mind Devourer is THE most important thing to look out for. If it procs, you must use it right away. The damage from a fully charged Mind Sear is always going to be more then anything else you can do in aoe. So even if you're mid-cast on that 2nd Mind Blast, it's worth it to stop and channel the Mind Sear. :)

Make a mod:shift macro to target the tank with mind sear. #showtooltip mind sear /use [mod:shift, @focus] mind sear /use [nomod, @target] mind sear It's the same as it was before, you can target friendly targets with it. Idk y nobody knows this

I think people are misunderstanding shadowcrash and seeing it as only an dot applier and not realizing the damage of it. Don't forget it's an uncapped aoe NUKE. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something but why use it at the start when you can use void eruption to give you triple dip mastery on shadow crash's uncapped damage with ancient madness 20% on top of that on 15+ mobs like those plants where it may only apply dots to 8 targets but it will still Hit all mobs for like 30k+ crits to all mobs. Try using shadow crash right after void eruption rather then at the beginning of the pull before void eruption
