I had lifted my Samurai about 3” to fit 32’s. Now I moved the springs to over the axle. I’m running a Toyota 22R-E engine, 5 speed and t case. I’m on Samurai axles. The front drive shaft will work with a spacer on each end. The rear shaft is too short and goes into bind long before achieving the angle I need. I have a Toyota shaft I can shorten but even the cardan CV doesn’t achieve the angles needed.

What is up with that blue Sami it makes it look so easy. Is shackle reversal a bigger deal than we've been led to believe?
@FortuneOffRoad2 жыл бұрын
In the samurai world that appears to be the ideal setup as far as lift, wheelbase, and gearing goes. The driver is good too!
@stinkfish68182 жыл бұрын
@@FortuneOffRoad it is generally echoed in the Samurai community that shackle reversal is dangerous, creates poor braking characteristics and is bad for rock crawling due to the rear shackle catching on things. There are also very few kits offering shackle reversal. I don't think most people consider it ideal at all. But that Sami seemed to be having an easier time than anyone else.

What is the tire size on the LWB Sami? That engine sounds big!! IDTG on this one will give me a lot of ideas for my LWB on Toyota axles. Great video and rigs.

I thi k they are 33s but I'm not 100% sure. I wish I had more time at camp to do more walk arounds but it's a tight schedule with a big group on the trail. 🤙🏻

I noticed you changed from the Patagonias to what looks like bfg all terrains. Any reason for the change? Am interested in getting some Patagonias for my samurai
@FortuneOffRoad2 жыл бұрын
Those Patagonias were great tires! These BFGs are too, but not for a trail rig. I only swapped because they were in my Jeep when I got it and it was an upgrade in size from a 31 to a 33. The ground clearance gained has been great.
@jer_lifts2 жыл бұрын
When you lifted your samurai with that SPOA kit with your 31’s, what shocks did you go with? And size too if you have that but just curious because I’m going to install the same lift as you shortly but don’t know what shocks to run

Hey, I've been watching your Samuri content and I found the Zukicon video. I would love to attend Zukicon! Will you help me understand if my rig will be able to make it? I drive an 89 Tracker 4x4 with... • 3.5" lift • 30" BFG K02s on one piece wheels • lunchbox diff in the rear • stock gear ratio My question is, can I bypass the difficult obstacles? I daily my rig and it is clean AF. I don't want to break anything and I especially don't want to destroy the body. I would love to come and show out for the Zuki gang but if I risk breaking my rig I'll have to pass. I wouldn't even mind witching up some obstacles for ease. I know it's not a rock crawler. I would really just love to be a part of the event and see the sights along the way.
@FortuneOffRoad2 жыл бұрын
I think your rig can make it through but you need a lot of armor with that size tire and you will likely get some body damage. The trail is much harder with small tires. I had 31s the first 3 times and it was challenging. Much easier with 33s
