Azula's fire is blue can be explain by 2 aspects: - Storytelling: You will see more of this in late season 2 but let's say Azula and Zuko is like Ying and Yang, 2 sides of a coin. So her blue fire helps separate the 2 characters which also represent one of the two sides Zuko can be on - World building: Azula's fire bending can be considered as perfect. She may not be the strongest fire bender but her skill reaches the point where it becomes perfect. A blue flame in real life does not have anything else burning in it but oxygen. So the blue flame implies that Azula's fire is pure fire, absolute perfect as we can see that she is also a perfectionist, shown in the very first episode of book 2 when she's not happy that her lightning bending is ALMOST perfect

Azula is a sociopath, however there has to be consideration into how she was raised. Arguably she is also a victims of her parents. Ossi doesn’t care about his kids, but favors azula because like him, she is the second born. Because he was never shown favor by his own father because of being the second born, he abused Zuko as a result. He manipulated azula and turned her into the thing he always wanted. Unfortunately, she never stood a chance.
@AustinSamson19994 ай бұрын
Facts, people have such a double standard for Azula it’s kinda insane. Although idk about sociopath, Ozai yes. But for Azula I’d say in book 3 there’s some direct counter evidence of her emotions that PROVES she isn’t one, she’s just a jerk cuz she has literally NEVER been taught anything different. I’d 100% say it’s not “arguably”, she IS a victim full stop. Just cause Ozai didn’t physical abuse her like he did to zuko doesn’t mean she didn’t suffer a form of abuse by him. Like I won’t spoil but all that happnes in book 3 with her PROVES how she was essential Robbed of a normal childhood and upbringing DESTROYING her. People just don’t want to admit that tho becuase unlike Zuko who people forgive much easier despite all his drama she is REALLY good at her job and god forbid a woman ever be deemed a “bitch” or she’s forever unlikeable and irredeemable. I’ll always die on this hill, the only difference between book 1 and half of 2 zuko and Azula is that Azula is GOOD at her job and Zuko has Iroh to PERSONALLY guide and teach him yet he’s STILL an ass 95% of the time who iroh helps commit crimes. Azula is FOURTEEN, literally a child. If we can understand the nuances in Zukos story idk why people get defensive with Azula and say she’s “born evil” or is irredeemable🤷🏻♂️😤👏

@@AustinSamson1999 I think she has some form of psychopathy or at least the writers included subtle hints to the through the series. Like how how Azula feeds Turtle ducks, harming small animals is often a sign of that
@AustinSamson19994 ай бұрын
@@redmdlee i get where ur coming from bro but to me if she was an airnomad who grew up in a peaceful environment and was doing that to turtle ducks you’d have credibility to that claim but context and environment MATTERS. Azula was raised as the favorite and strongest child of a GENOCIDAL nation where her colonizer father DIRECTLY encouraged and trained her EXCLUSIVELY to be a weapon to the point she’s not even allowed to BE a child anymore and be normal. She legit can’t even hold a CONVERSATION with people her own age becuase ALL she’s allowed to do is train or else she doesn’t get any attention or approval and validation from daddy who demands PERFECTION from everything she does and that’s ALOT of pressure. Her treating the turtles tucks like that is her mimicking learned behavior that’s directly ENCOURAGED by her father to make her more ruthless. I’m not saying she doesn’t display sadistic or psychopathic tendencies through her action because actions speak louder than words but what I AM saying is that Azula ISN’T just naturally that way, she wasn’t born not caring and having little empathy. She’s not a serial killer murdering people for the sadistic pleasure it gives her and laughing maniacally as she does so. She’s a BRAINWASHED CHILD taught that fear and cruelty is how you maintain relationship’s and is a DIRECT result of the abuse of Ozai by FORCING her to be ONLY a child soldier who eventually mental breakdown and hallucinations cuz of how it all destroyed her psyche. She never had any other option but to become that way because WHO was going to stop Ozai and actually teach her what’s right and wrong? Zuko needed YEARS with iroh to overcome the exact same problem🤷🏻♂️ Azula deserves to be held accountable 100%, but my point is just that to pretend she’s not equally as much a victim of Ozai as Zuko or to say she was BORN being cruel just isn’t true😤👏 I wish they could have gotten that season 4 back In the day to have Zuko being Azulas Iroh and helping reform her 😭🙌

One of my favorite theories is that Azulon actually ordered Zuko to be given to Iroh as a surrogate son, moving up the line of succession ahead of his bio father. I think it makes sense because it seems odd for a monarch to order to have the last remaining male grandson in the line of succession killed over a slight. But I do think Ozai would rather kill Zuko then let him be raised by Iroh and be ahead of him in succession. So it would mean Azula did lie, but there was a little bit of truth in it since Ozai really would have killed Zuko, which I think is Azula's sweet spot for manipulation, lies with just enough of truth in it.

@IamnotJohnFord4 ай бұрын
The story is so well written that you identify to some extent with every character. And, Azula is such a good villain the story is believable. Zuko mom, Ursa(means bear), foretells what is going to happen with the foreshadowing scenario of the mother turtleduck protecting her baby. Azulon, the Fire Lord, was grieving the lost of his first grandson, Lu Ten. You can tell because he describes it as Iroh lost his "beloved" son. Also, there is a reason that Iroh is off fighting and Ozai is still in the Fire Nation city. Ozai is crazy, egotistical, cruel, and every other negative trait you can think of. He is not fit to rule. His offspring are not fit to rule in the eyes of Azulon. Azula is just like her father, and Zuko is weak. So, in his anger and grieve Azulon tells Ozai to kill Zuko knowing this will tear the family apart. What he didn't count on was Ursa protecting Zuko. So, Azulon winds up dead, Ursa leaves, Ozai usurps the throne, and Zuko real journey to hell starts. These are my theories.
@Cherryberryfruitt4 ай бұрын
the two theories ive mostly seen are that Zuko's mother did kill the firelord (foreshadowed by the turtleduck scene) or that he died at the hands of someone else and their mother ran away so that they couldnt have another child, therefore Zuko couldnt be killed. The first one is more likely true imo. Its kinda crazy that Azula wasn't lying tho

So the way I have seen why Azula has blue flames explain which in my opinion makes the most sense is as follows... one of the first things we learn about Azula is that not only is she a fire-bending prodigy but she is also a textbook perfectionist... with that being said in science when trying to achieve combustion there is a state called "perfect combustion" which is the state in which the mixture of fuel to oxygen is perfectly balanced which no only makes the flame turn blue but makes it burn hotter. Given what we know about Azula it would make sense that she would take the time to achieve that level of precision when it comes to fire bending

You can just look up online what happened to zukos mom. It’s not told in the show and fans will tell you to read the comics. If you have time you can read them but if you just want that question answered just look it up online. Not a spoiler in my opinion bc you wouldn’t have known anyway if you’re just watching the show
