Happy people make 'good' art, and sad people make 'great' art, but this is only true because we perceive it to be so. It's not to say happy people and sad people aren't both capable of making 'great' art, but when we know there is struggle behind one, we tend to relate more and hold it in a higher light. Seeing someone make something great by overcoming struggle is inspiring. It gives people who are also struggling hope while letting them know they aren't alone.
