Zuma dual headlight modification

Yamaha made the Zuma for years with high and low beams using only one light at a time. There is a modification kit that can be installed to make both headlights work at the same time. We found the kit / wire at zumasrus.com. It works for the 125 cc and the 50 cc. Ours are 2015 models.

Christina I enjoyed the video. You should do the clear lens covers in the signals and buy the amber bulbs vs clear. So much nicer but the stock bulbs are Phillips while the amber cn only be bought of ebay and are cheap Taiwan bulbs.

It comes with single headlights and they are converting to make both come on at the same time.

I’m watching bc I bought a used Zuma 125 that has dial headlights working and installed about a year ago. But I only used the scooter once every 2 weeks and I’ve gone through 3 batteries and at first thought it was bc I didn’t used it enough to keep the battery at healthy levels. Oh and when I got the scooter with only 1400 miles, the battery was dead and I had to put in a new one. So since this Zuma don’t have a kick start, you depend on the battery to work for it to start. So I believe by running 2 headlights when it wasn’t designed to , It drains the battery or doesn’t charge it when running as it should. So I’m hoping it’s a quick fix and I ordered a used OEM wiring and will switch back. Don’t mean to be a downer with this comment, but unless you charge your battery all the time, I wouldn’t recommend running 2 headlights. Anyway, I’ve read on other video on the same issue and wanted to pass on to others thinking about doing this.

If you did one of the Zumas, I’m surprised it’s hard for you to get the front panel off. But I understand you didn’t want to break anything and was being careful.

Ok and to reverse to the original one headlight, you just take off the 2 connections? So I didn’t need to buy the original wiring harness bc you never take it off and still use it.

It’ll drain the battery and I’ve already gone through 4 batteries in a year and only use it about once every 2 weeks. Others have said the same thing and I’m going to go back to the original one headlight bc it’s not worth it and too much trouble replacing the battery every 3 months. Why Yamaha designed it with one headlight unless you do high beam I think .

This won’t short out the battery, but may use up the battery, especially if you don’t ride your scooter as much. However, if you put your bike on a trickle charger, there’s no problems. 🛵💨💨 The place to get a nice, simple, plug-n-play, headlight harness is at: zumalights.com/

Yeah, my used Zuma came with the dual conversation and the battery I had to replace about 3 months and gone through 3 batteries. Since it doesn’t have a kick start, when the battery dies, it’s a big pain and batteries usually last up to 2 years. So I’m trying to put tying back to original bc it’s a pain to try to start your scooter and the battery is dead again. I think why Yamaha has always made the Zuma with one headlight on bc of the battery support. Many others on this conversion has also brought up the battery drain issue.

@@jacknjill3000 Hello jacknjill3000. I’m sorry to hear about your problems with your scooter batteries. I still recommend investing in a trickle charger. Most motorcycle batteries aren’t guaranteed for much more than a year. If you don’t ride your scooter very much during the Winter the battery will go dead pretty fast. If you’re able to plug in a trickle charger whenever you’re not using it, the battery will last several years longer. You do you though. Best of luck. 🛵💨💨💨
