Hi Opichocal. You were smart getting the stock Yamaha belt. Those last just as long as the fancy OEM models. Rollers shouldn't have flat spots. Sliders (like the Dr. Pulley) are a different animal and need to be put into the variator like the instructions show. You may need to go with lighter weights/rollers for quicker take-offs. Best of luck.

crank bearings are shot

Funny thing is it had nothing to do with the cvt. The exhaust was clogged from all the burnt oil and carbon. I used a camping stove, map gas and compressed air for nearly an hour to clean it out. Runs like new and I use it to get groceries etc.

It is probaly worn and stretched like you thought. Get the oem belt brcause stuff you find at a hardware store is going to suck. Also check your roller weights when you pop off the variator to change the belt. Make sure the rollers arent worn or damaged cuz they mught cause that noise. Very likely your belt is stretched and worn

I bought a new Yamaha belt and new 5.5 gram rollers. Now the bike is really slow on take off. The old rollers had very small flat spots so I got aftermarket and installed them with the flat end going counterclockwise and the lip and going backwards
