There are plenty of veteran bits of advice people don't understand. Here are just a few... If you use split point ammo for the added accuracy and craft as you go you never need to collect ammo from the post office or your lockbox as it automatically pulls from the lockbox to refill regular ammo in your inventory. Split point ammo is SUPERIOR for hunting airborne birds, even at extended ranges, and if you use a repeater versus a varmint rifle, you will more reliably get kills due to the extra damage. If you want better quality, use the preferred method... Another tip is called the "silent horse whistle" trick. Dont want to let players know you are around and vector you while hunting? Simply whistle while you are are skinning an animal, it makes no noise, but your horse still has sonic hearing and will come to you. You can permanently carry your lantern on your hip, you equip it and after remounting your horse quickly switch to a two handed weapon. Useful for all sorts of reasons. OSK to the torso are completely possible even without explosive ammo to a level 10 health player. Learm to free aim and use the Rolling Block rifle. Short to medium shots will the Springfield work as well using express ammo. Don't be baited into shooting first in Defensive mode, it's a common tactic for griefers, especially those coward types that want to shoot you in the back in the head after you ride past in avoidance if in offensive mode. You MUST wait until you or your horse are hit, and their blip turns BRIGHT red. If they try and knock you off your horse by running into you instead, learn to sidestep with level 4 bonding. The player will fly by allowing you to escape. Normally this makes them frustrated, and then they will attempt to shoot you repeatedly allowing a quick return kill. The middle finger gesture is very useful as well here. Understanding game mechanics is much more valuable than any exploit or glitch.

It definitely does, but it bonds fastest through leading. You get a bond point every couple seconds while leading & about every minute or so while riding. I tend to alternate patting, brushing, & leading with new horses. Every 3 or so burshes is a point & every 3-5 pats is a point & if you alternate it goes quicker. I went from bond 3 to 4 doing that & leading my horse for roughly 15-20 minutes.

@@YaramazYumurta31 actually leading is the exact same as trotting xp, fastest trick for bonding, literally trot from tumbleweed to van horn while grooming, feeding, and patting along the way. If you wait til horse is dirty and hungry, that gets 15 each and patting gets a 15 every 45 seconds. And always hitch and then groom :)

Hunting tip (if your near by a butcher or regardless) you can carry an animal carcass, 2 small game including some turkeys and birds, carry alot of squirrels, they go in satchels, some pelts also fit in there. Also most pelts can be fit onto the back of the horse. Finally if you don't have any room left you can carry a whole carcass with you and call your horse along the way. Try helping someone out if they look like they don't have enough room on there horse to carry a spare carcus. Especially if both carcus are in perfect condition!

PS4: Square=Block, move analogue stick to dodge Triangle=Choke/Tackle/Grapple Circle=Punch/Tackle When grappling L3=Slam to ground/wall Analogue Stick=Can move forward when grappling Square when grappling=Dismiss Spam Circle=Subdue/Break free/Struggle Right trigger=Blow their brains out Recommend changing break free etc. To "Hold" instead of tap to be able beat more players.

Hey Zumie!! Do you know I find a lot of players that still don't know about weapon familiarity? 200 kills with every weapon to max the base stats. The reload stat is what you pay attention to. There is a greyed out area which after the 200 kills, will be filled in. Then your weapon is maxed! Cheers!

I have an affinity for the Bow. On paper it just makes complete sense to use it with all one of my all time favourite ability cards.. Peak Conditioning. It automatically will utilize the ability card simply by drawing the Bow. I will admit though that most cards feel like they’re there for a placebo effect but either way, the last time I tested the sprinting it gives you at least a full minute of extra sprint.

One final tip from a veteran for the road. Clothing warmth ratings for ALL items can be found in the R* social network online catalogue, but are not very clear often in game. Unfortunate but true due to R* "oversight". Only the combined ratings of outfits are reported easily. Most gloves do give slight warmth, but only certain boots, vests, shirts, coats, and a handful of hats.

Not surprised. Buffalo rifle and bolt action rifle was the best guns to use in the original RDR pvp, roll and doing headshots was supper op in that game. However it was unlock at higher levels... Back in the day when I was on the ps3 I would ride my zebra-donkey (one of the fastest mounts, only obtained when the player has become a legend four times and has reached level 50 five times). It ran sooo fast with it's tiny legs, people thought I was cheating and 1-shoting people with my bolt action with headshots, lol. People would tend to avoid me after. Made me feel good at the game. Fun times.

Litchfield. Many talk smack about it but i love that repeater. You gotta treat it like a rifle with a large magagzine then it performs just fine, dont spamm give it a sec between shots, damage wise its almost on the level of the bolt action with a 3x larger mag size and very good range for a repeater. With HV ammo its absolute beast at lock on range.

here is the list of them. I forgot what the first four were by the time I got to the ninth one. 1: For fighting, crouch down, walk up to them, and punch enemies. 2: You can sit on certain cliffs and ledges (even buildings, sit in the window of the destroyed church as the civil war battlefield.) 3: You can drive steamboats. 4: Wide Aim makes locking onto enemies easier (toy with ALL settings before playing, I do this with every game.) 5: You can cosmetically dual-wield without off-hand holsters. 6: You can permanently add markers on the map. 7: Upgraded saddlebags can store more outfits (i got that free skull saddlebag on all my saddles and I can only store three) 8: Leading your horse is the fastest way to increase the bonding level. 9: Some treasure chests will have crafting pamphlets in them.

I've seen heaps of videos on the collector role that don't spell out that you can use the metal detector on your horse, so when you're using the collector maps and riding from one place to another, find several collectibles on the way each time. Also, every time you go to Madame Nazar, sell any excess collectible over 4 or 5 in each stack so they never get full otherwise you will find collectibles you can't pick up, and therefore never make money off. She tries to fool you about not having completed the collection, but you're never gonna find 9 sets at once, so just keep stacks of 5. The additional income offsets the cost of maps so restock your maps each time, that was you can very quickly do the 3 dailies upon login, then go sell the excess, then go re-fill your maps. Also, keep a stack of every meat type, about 9-12 in your inventory to quickly do the dailies related to cooking. Don't keep in excess of 15 herbs either, so you are always gaining from the challenge to pick 5 herbs, rather than wastefully eating.

With hunting wagon we all know u can’t summon horse as well. But..... what u may not know is if u crash the wagon and your horse lives which is ez to do u can keep the draft horse normally attached to the wagon and wait 2 mins and call in your wagon and boom u have a horse and a wagon. Bear in mind the horse u obtain will not come when called and won’t show on your map so make sure u keep track of it by hitching it near u. Fill up your wagon and then just leave it behind and take draft horse until full then turn all your stuff in to the butcher or trader cripps and then summon wagon and turn that stuff in or sell it respectively. Lichfield is ok, but yeah the Lancaster is way, way better for a number of reasons. Firstly, It's far more accurate. With the lichfield after just 1 or 2 shots, the gun will become extremely inaccurate, for about a 1 in 4 hit ratio. This is a tradeoff for my next point, damage. The lichfield is very attractive to new players when they see the high damage level in the catalouge but don't care about accuracy or range. The Lancaster on the other hand has a way better name (just sayin). It also bosts high accuracy and has decent range. The damage is nicely in the middle for a 2-3 shot torso kill and a very satisfying headshot kill.

Before you hang me for royal treason, let me explain: [FUNCTION] 1. The carbine repeater is cheap, and is one of your starting weapons meaning it's one of the first weapons you're going to learn how to use so before you get any other guns you already have all the tricks of this one down. 2. It's got higher damage than the cattle man revolver (your other starting weapon) making it an attractive alternative 3. It fires just as fast if not faster than most revolvers 4. It takes about the same amount of time to reload 5. Ammo is incredibly easy to find and purchase even at a beginner level with very little cash [FASHION]1. You look absolutely bad ass riding on your horse or just walking around with this thing equipped. There is nothing more terrifying than a huge posse riding straight for you at full speed, repeaters drawn. 2. If you're the role playing type, it's the perfect weapon for a guard role, what says wild west guard more than a cowboy hat, a revolver and a trusty repeater drawn and lowered? 3. Looks far more intimidating than pointing a cattle man at someone. If someone is annoying you and you draw your revolver they will either not notice or not care. You pull your repeater meanwhile, and bam, they're high tailing it all the way back from Saint Denis to Blackwater (this result is not guaranteed no matter what weapon you use lol don't quote me on this) Anyway I've taken up enough of your time, thank you for reading this far and have a good one

Not sure if this is really a tip, but I see a lot of players leaving carcasses behind after skinning an animal. Always take the carcass to sell. They are worth as much as the pelt, but more often they are worth more than the pelt itself. Always skin an animal, never take it unskinned, as you'll get more from the butcher from selling the carcass and pelt. Also, I just learned not long ago that you don't have to dismount your horse to brush it, but I'm sure everyone but me knew this. Lol

If you press down on the left analog stick if your horse gets spooked while galloping it’ll refill some of the horses stam. Idk if it’s just a patch they need to fix but you can basically gallop for 1.5x the usual amount. It will repeatedly fill lol👍

Using the cinematic camera to travel places you've marked on the map makes travel less of a hassle and lets you enjoy the scenery. Just mark a place on the map, get on a path marked on the map from the marked path, start cinematic and start your horse trotting along. once it starts on the path you don't have to hold or tap the button anymore. Just have to be careful of being timed out.

On the ps4, keeping the square button pressed and moving the left analog stick left or right while on your horse, makes the horse side step. Also keeping the right bumper 1 pressed and tapping on the square makes your horse buck. Not sure if these tips have been mentioned before.

No, but it speeds up the process. Do the daily missions and be proactive on the story missions for Gold. Doing the daily missions give .60 gold. Stranger missions give .08-.16 if you're lucky. Gold is priority if you want to do the Bounty Hunter stuff.

Pull out a rifle or a shotgun or a repeater when on a wagon, press and hold X or A while aiming with the weapon and the wagon will move along the path automatically. Cinematic does not work because you have to tap to keep going the same speed compared if you just held X or A not in cinematic mode

The Knife is my favorite weapon. Running up on people in pvp with it when i was new. It worked but then people started sniping. Eh still love it.

Jump after you take a tonic to rush the process. Shooting through fences, one hit kills with the bow on Hostile Territory. When using PIB, the second x triggers the double barrel to fire automatically. You can activate slippery bastard in mid dive. 🙋🏻‍♂️

For the naturalist role if you shoot them with the sedation round a couple of times then you can throw your lasso out and pin them to the ground way faster than chasing after the damn thing
