Great day for the Canucks in Austria. As I was a teen at the time, this race encouraged me to take up downhill skiing for fun. I always wondered if Read retired a bit too early. This was his last (or 2nd-to-last, perhaps) year on the circuit, and he was still getting podiums on the most difficult race on the circuit. These days these downhillers stay on the circuit until they're 35.
