I just got my bow it all on Wednesday and had a baby shower for my friend yesterday. What a difference this tool makes! What use to takes hours took minutes. Do you know approximately how much ribbon you used to make the first bow? I'm trying to see how much ribbon I would need for a large number of bows.

I'm so sorry that I never measured and stated the length of the ribbon and I'm not really sure. My advice to you (assuming you have a bow-it-all) is set up the pegs for the size bow you want and take any width ribbon you have on hand and do the wraps. Mark the end of the ribbon where you would cut it and take the ribbon off and measure it. That should give you an idea of the yardage you would need. I hope that helps and have fun making all the bows!!

Hi there, So thankful for your video here. I hope you see this. I have a question. I’m brand new to this and using the v3.0. However, in the beginning of the video how many yards or feet was the spook of ribbon. I have 9 feet and used burlap but it came out smallish and didn’t have enough. Could you help me?

Hi Taylor. The length of ribbon you need for a bow will vary for each style of bow, width and overall size. For wider ribbon, you would be making a larger bow, so would need a longer length. My suggestion would be - decide what type and size of bow you want to make and then use a scrap piece of string or narrow ribbon to just make the bow pattern of wraps you will use for the bow. Mark the end and take it off and measure it. That way you will know before you start if you have enough ribbon for the bow you want to make.

Love your bows! Is there a way of covering up the top and bottom spaces of the bow-another words the upper and lower divisions between the the bows?

I'm not sure I totally understand your question, but if you mean just the normal separation of each loop of the bow, you can manipulate the loops in any fashion you want. If you are using a finicky ribbon, you can always use some sort of adhesive to make your loops stay where you want them once the bow is complete.

Fredrika Zablocki Okay, just watched my own video again - lol. I think I might be with ya now.... Do you mean to make the ribbon more like a round medallion instead of a bow with loops on each side? If that is what you mean, all you need to do is add more loops on each side for each layer. Still do three layers if you want, but do 4, 5 or even 6 loops on each side in the back depending on your ribbon. You might not need that many loops in each layer - maybe 5 in the back and then 4 and 3, but more loops will make it round for you. Hope that helps!

+Robin Hargis Hi Robin - thanks so much for your message. Sure! I think you can easily do that (says the person who hasn't yet tried - lol). I got an email several months ago from someone about this - was that you? I responded and never heard back. I can try to do a video early next year, but what I was thinking was, depending on the size of rubber band you use, you can use the helping hands pegs and stretch the rubber band around the closest ones and then insert the ribbon into the rubber band when tying the locking c-knot. If you want to email me at reasonableribbon(at)warwick(dot)net I can try to help talk you through it if that doesn't make sense. I thinking similar to how I added the metal hanger to the Christmas ball on my latest video, but you would have to insert the ribbon into the rubber band as it's a circle....

+Bonnie Garby Yes, groomers usually thread the tail that they will tie in the back through a grooming band at the end. Some also cut a tiny strip of felt, put it through a grooming band, then glue the ends of the felt onto the back of the bow so there is a felt strip with a band in the middle. This has the advantage of being able to place the strip so that the band is horizontal to the bow (for topknots and ears), or vertical to the bow for collars.

That would be a cool look Gloria. If you wanted a different color for the front and back loops I think it would work really well. I would wrap the back and secure the ends with the helping hands pegs ( a set of extra pegs would be helpful from the accessories pack) and then wrap the front color and use that to tie the center. How would u use this with several different colors? Is it possible?

It would be more difficult to create this type of bow similar to my bi-color bow tutorial with the different colors on the top and bottom of the bow. You could however create the bottom layer in one color and then the top layer in another color. It would mean a bulkier center, but if you use light weight ribbon it would be lovely. I would set up the larger back loop first and secure the ends to an extra post with the clips. Then add the front loop and tie the center with this ribbon. I hope that makes some sort of sense. I've done a bi-color layered bow with two loops in each layer which you can view here.
