What a beautiful build Jen. I flew on one with my family to Jersey on a Day Trip when I served at Lyneham in 1987. I’ve just gone and ordered the kit on the back of this presentation. Thanks so much I love this channel

This is a great detailed model, I was a C-130H DCC (dedicated crew chief) during Desert Shield/Storm at AL Ain, UAE (the 1st DAWG ... Desert Airlift Wing) we had over 50 Herc's there from Active Duty and ANG including 4 from the South Korean AF during the Gulf War. I have worked on the older "E"s as well. Our Unit is slated to get new Super "J" Hercs in the future and I too am looking forward to the new Zvezda C-130J-30 kit. You did an absolutely beautiful job on the build.

Cracking model and modelling - long lived prototypes can be complex and catch out the unwary. The pleasure of the build has to balanced with accuracy and sanity to my mind✌️👍😄 I remember, when very young, battling with the Airfix version, it never got finished the tooling must have been quite old even by that time 🤔😕😕 Round these parts we miss Lynham and the hercs✌️💜 There's still Brize and Fairford active but it's not the same, Wroughton, Hullavington, Lynham et al all gone now☹️

What a fantastic build! I was a flight engineer on C-130E and HC-130 for over 10 years so I have also purchased this kit in order to build an HC-130P. The kit is, as you say, the best one yet. BTW, you referred to extra fuel tanks being missing (such as those found on USMC aircraft). I know early variants (C-130B) were fitted with a pair of smaller tanks outboard of the outboard engines but without the larger external tanks that we see attached between engines on later variants. I think you may be referring to air refueling (hose and drogue) pods found on some tanker variants,
@JenesisDesignsandModelcraft
@JenesisDesignsandModelcraft 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I believe the outboard tanks on the USMC aircraft at least are refuelling pods. I'm fairly sure I have a pair salvaged from an Esci kit somewhere. I'd very much like to do a modern USMC C-130J. I really like the markings and quite a few have stopped through here at RAF Brize Norton over the years.

Hi Jenesis Just found your channel and I must say that was a very nice model you built there. In my youth I used to live in the flightparth of Northolt Airport in London and I used to see hercs take off and land there every day of the week. And just having watched this video I am going to invest in the kit.

I came across this video whilst looking for reviews on this kit. What a great review this is. Straight to the point and very informative. I will make a point of watching the build videos before starting mine. I well remember the first time I saw a Hercules. There were a pair flying low over the coast at Lulworth Cove in Dorset. It was about the same time the Airfix kit was released. I intend to build mine in the same colour scheme of Dark Earth and Light Stone as the kit. I know it might not be particularly accurate, but I can live with that. Great idea to leave the main wing separate for storage and transporting. Thank you for an excellent review.

Hello Jen, I wonder if you could help me please. I'm going to build my Zvezda Hercules in the original Gloss Dark Earth, Light Stone & Black scheme using the markings from the company, 26 Decals. I'm struggling to find the correct walkway lines. I've read several different colours including, Red, Black, and yellow hatching. I even saw a photo with what appeared to be a Matt walkway marked out on the upper surfaces with no lines. Some photos appear the lines to be nonexistent. Would you have any idea of the correct markings please? Thank you.

Just a quick note on aircraft cleaning, the aircraft came into the hangar about once a year for servicing, a primary, it would be washed as part of that service. Also not sure you can see it here, the wheels were painted white as was the undercarriage bays.

@@jaykingman641 Yes, the aircraft went to Marshalls of Cambridge and was converted for use as a test bed for the A400 engine.
