Thank you for the video. Lived there in the late 70's and early 80's. Was there when the pool caught fire and we helped with the fundraiser to build a new pool. We lived in French housing and I went to the little elementary school there. Walked over 500kms with Volksmarching. I really can say some of my most enjoyable and memorable times were from our years in Zweibrucken and Rimschweiler. We would hang out at the outdoor pool, ride the paddle boats, hang out at the horse track and spend all our money on ice cream. Seeing all the people walking around with ice cream reminded me of how good the ice was over there. Good memories, thanks for helping me keep them fresh.

Thanks for the great video, very well done! I was born and raised in Zweibrücken and did my schooling and military service there, I come back for visits every year to see family. There is no other place in the world with a population of 35 k that has so much to offer. I wished the video had been taken during the summer as the city is the most beautiful then. Where else in a small city do you have both indoor and outdoor pools, an equestrian center along with a motorbike racetrack down town, a beautiful 1 km stretch of river in an allee setting with trees, a world class rose garden, a walkable down town, miniature golfing and small river boating, soccer and track stadium, along with one of the largest outlet centers in all of Germany? Looking forward to my next visit in a couple of weeks….

Thank you! Yes the city definitely has the foundations for greatness, and during the 60s-90s was Germany's inconspicuous little hidden gem. Growing up here as a kid in those years was glorious. Unfortunately, nowadays its economy and vibrancy arn't what they used to be. :-(

@@davechristian7543 Yes, Zweibrucken was germany's hidden emerald gem from the 60s to the mid 90s. in the 2000s it began a precipitous decline when the US base closed. Now, most stores in the center city are closed or closing, the demographic is mostly elderly germans and younger immigrant families. All thats left now are a few kebab shops, pharmacies, hearing aide stores, eye-glasses stores, and a few stores where you can buy clothes for 5 euros a shirt. Its sad what happened to this place. My memories of summers in Zweibrucken when I was a kid are some of my best memories ever.

I`ve been living here in Zweibrücken since Sept. of 1989. A friend of mine said one that no matter how good or bad a city is - it always depends on the people who live in it. the citiizens of every town make it what it is.

Great video. Nice that there are still places like this left in the world. So different compared to Rhode Island. In Zweibrucken, everything feels so accessible and compact, yet spacious at the same time. The design of the streets and parks has a lot to do with that.

Haha yes, thats all true. Zweibrucken has seen certainly better days. Especially in the 70s-80s-and 90s when it had the US airbase. When the Americans left it basically just gutted the place unfortunately.
