Great ride, well done 👏 I think it is the sign of a well-functioning Cat system that strong people appear now and again and then promptly disappear upwards. This happens in real life too. As a new Cat 4 I was treated to the sight of an ex olympic rower starting his racing career at the same time. Where as I got dropped four times and limped home questioning my sanity- he lapped the field. A few races later, the system had worked and he was a Cat 2. The old Zwift categories assumed part of people's identity and I think subconsciously, some would tailor their power output to match. I think the new cats should encourage people to race more tactically and strive for results. In that case, the strongest deserve to win and be encouraged to move up quickly.

Great take! Pinned. know the feeling about getting destroyed by overpowered riders. Let’s hope ZRS score will even out quickly because if I was a C cat rider getting destroyed time and again by heavy hitters, well..not good for my motivation to race again.

@@RideWithGerben agreed. But that is life... And you have to remember that you are the heavy hitter to the folks recently upgraded to the bottom of your category 😉

@25:30 The winner of Cat C was upgraded (524 ZRS) and his results now show him in the B Cat (520-690) for this series. ZRS moves your results too?!?!

Into top cat now. ZRS has me bouncing around from top cat to old b cat and back again.

First Great ride Gerben big effort! If you don't race do base rides your rating does not reflect your fitness. I was a mid level B cat last year, stronger this year but I'm barely a C cat race score (360) as have not done any races only occasional hard 5 or 8 minute efforts following base rides. May do some races in the future. The fellow who did 4.5 watts likely hasn't done any specific Zwift events so simply hasn't moved up. No issues there.
@RideWithGerben5 күн бұрын
Hi Gary. True. In the 'old' system he wouldn't even been allowed in the C cat. He is a very strong B cat rider, or even A cat.

I just realized you set your trainer difficulty to 0…. A little disappointing. I don’t think that should be allowed. You always ride with it at 0?
@RideWithGerben5 күн бұрын
It's at 40 :) Watts are Watts, so gearing is not really a factor here.
@Trihardercycling5 күн бұрын
@ I mean but it is. Gears don’t allow for consistent watts. You can get around the same but not the same. The swings in power make riding more difficult. Not saying you don’t put out the power but you have to admit riding at constant power is much easier than the swings up and down. Changing gear.

@@RideWithGerben No way this is 40 trainer difficulty.. My power even moves more using ERG mode. 😂

At the end of the day Zwift compensates the TD settings by adjusting the speed in which you climb and descend. So you get the benefits of not having to change gears a hundred times but your actual speed remains consistent. Also, holding the watts that Gerben holds for these races without the true benefits of resting on the descents shows he is just as strong as capable as someone with a TD of 100%. Most people never change off the default. For me i do my best riding at 60-70 percent. Like any game, it’s user preference.
