The ZWO ASI1600 Astronomy Camera - One of the most iconic pieces of equipment in astronomy, and certainly one that has brought a new age of Astrophotography - Today, I am telling the story of it, and reviewing it.

Excellent review. I have a couple of ZWO colour cameras (120MC and 290MC) but it might be time to get one with a bigger sensor like this.

Hey Logan, i know that this video is quite old, and it's not for the thing im asking for, but i will write it here cuz its the most recent one. Are you going to make the fourth video of how to make a telescope mirror? Your tutorials are by far one of the best ones and probably the easiest ones that i can find to make telescope mirror on internet. Im pretty young, and im really hooked up on astronomy for some time, but i cant afford normal, industry made telescopes. So yeah, are you going to make the fourth episode? I really dont want to put any pressure on you, i just wanna ask if you gonna release it, or maybe when u gonna do that. Also, can u make a tutorial how to make the fully functional dobsonian telescope using the mirror that u make on these series? It would be cool. Im really waiting for new episode cuz i love your videos man, keep doing the great job! (p.s. sorry for any grammar mistakes, i dont live in english speaking country)

Oh that American influence! We in Australia pronounce 'Z' as 'ZED', not Zeee like the yanks do (and how you did)! Being picky I know ;-) After months of saving, shall be receiving this 1600MM Pro and filters and EFW kit in the next few days, at last! Nice images shown at the end of the video, again, making me impatient for this camera!

It's a shame you're too young to know what you're talking about. My SBIG ST-10XME was a CCD and had a QE of 85%, dark current of less than 1 electron per pixel at 0⁰ and almost non existent noise at -25⁰, had dual sensors for self guiding, a remote guide port for external guiding, adaptive optics etc. The CMOS sensors are nice, but depending on what you're doing, they are a downgrade. My st8300 (another ccd) pulls far more signal through a 3nm Ha filter than the asi1600mm... What ZWO has done is make the process easy with a fully integrated system of cameras, minipcs mounts, guides, scopes and filterwheels that all work seamlessly together, but to think that any of their cameras would outperform an STL-6303 in sensitivity or STX-16803 for overall field of view for a given scope, you're unfortunately dreaming. Yes, I have an ASI2600MC and a 294M, and I love them for what I use them for, but to boldly state that they smash CCDs as a blanket statement is pretty short sighted... Newer doesn't always mean better.

I thought Australians pronounced the letter Z as Zed, instead of Zee? Becoming a bit americanized perhaps?
