I'm very interested in purchasing the ASIair, but I read several posts (below) that these individuals were unable to get ASIair connected to their Skywatcher EQ6 Pro mount for tracking. Has this been resolved?

Hi, have a Canon 7D, and Canon L series Lenses. and iOptron Start Tracker Pro. I have an iPhone6, and also a Samsung S6, and a Sony Laptop with Windows7, Can i use the ASIAir, or do i need to buy the ASIAir Pro. I do not intend to go beyond the equipment what i already have. Your advise please. I read somewhere, that it can work only with a Laptop that has Linux OS. Is this true ? I also have an Apple Tab.

So there's no "Live View"? Have to take a preview exposure and then figure out whether I'm pointing the telescope at the right place via the plate solving? And focusing the same way - take a test exposure and adjust focus then keep adjusting focus and taking test shots until focus is set?

Is it possible to use the polar alignment in another portion of the sky with the polar routine in the app ? I don't have a polaris view in my garden. I would hope for a darv (drift align) option in the app.

This looks great for a mobile setup... I just bought a NUC because I run SGP but that is on a heavy CGE Pro - I think one of these will fit my mobile AVX and 65mm EDQ just perfect - will be great though when focuser controls are added especially if automated, also a tool like the framing and mosiac wizard in SGP would be the icing on the cake BUT it still looks great and the price - $179 - awesome!

Do I need a St-4 cable if my celestron avx is connected via mini USB over the Handcontroller? I am not sure, but my problem is that the PA is hard to do with asi air. Mostly the 60 degrees on RA won't be recognized. Once the PA worked, because I made some steps trough the Handcontroller... Sorry, but it's hard to achieve this thing!

by using ASIAIR, do we still need polar alignment? for us Polaris is just at the horizon. Does guide scope can eliminate polar alignment with the help of this ASIAIR device?

Is there a drift alignment tool similar to PHD2? That and Dithering. Also would this have issues accurately keeping a long focal length guided well (i dont use Off AG), i havent really seen these used on longer focal lengths yet

So it can also be used just as a portable wifi module for eq mount? For example, with the iOptron CEM25p I dont have to buy optional iOptron wifi module, just use Asiair to remotly control the telescope via Sky Safari? Using one tablet (and assuming that I want do everything remotly) after finding an object and enabling tracking in Sky Safari, I have to switch to Asiair app to set the session. Wouldn't Sky Safari switch itself OFF in the background after some time (or maybe immediately) and telescope stops tracking the object?

you are correct that you don't need to buy another wifi module.sky safari works well with air, tracking is controlled by mount, so it is still going on even if you turn off sky safari

How do you figure the guide scope focal length and main scope focal length?? using 120mm mini as guide, 183MC as main scope with OAG on C8

usually the guide scope's focal length has to be 1/2 to 1/4 of main scope focal length

Ok, and last question:Guiding camera is connected via st4 to mount and via USB to Asiair? I ask becsuse on commercial photos on ZWO website I can see only one cable from guiding camera to main camera? Could You explain me how it has to be done (connection guiding kit)? Thanks

you can use ST4 port for guiding or RS232 port

I have tested it today with an eq6 with EQMOD adapter and zwo 1600mm. There are few issues/bugs in the software. My iphone 6s and ipad air2 both are able to connect to the asiair wifi, but the software hangs many times. When it runs I noticed that if I select to shut down asiair and send mount to zero after an image sequence, the asiair shuts down first before the mount is zeroed and the mount continues to track with no control until I power cycle all the system. Please fix this issue.

eqmod doesn't support return to zero position, it should not show up at sequence. we will fix it, you can feed back to our facebook group: facebook.com/groups/ASIAIR/

lets do math.. 180 plus tax and shipping so around 200 bucks for a 40 dollar computer and some software.... so 160 bucks for the software... WOW.. zwo is sooo high priced... on all there stuff... do math . lower price more buy ... high price less buy.. ill never aford a zwo cam and oga cam and asiair. thats in the 1300 dollar range.
