He he he... well, that's how he and I dance to Zydeco. That's definitely not how I dance zydeco with everyone, but we've known each other a long time. And, there's a big range of styles even amongst native dancers in SW Louisiana and Houston. (Most popular locations for zydeco now in the US. It originated in SW La.)

I like the energy that you two have. I was born and raised in NYC, but I know Zydeco from my dad. When I was in like 5th grade, he came back from a conference in New Orleans. He had heard Zydeco in all the stores and asked a vendor for what it was that he heard everywhere. He sold him a cassette tape of Beau Jocque and the Zydeco High Rollers. My dad came home and was like, "I'm Beau Jocque; you're Skeeter". When I played the Pokémon games, I'd always name myself "Skeeter" and my first Pokémon "Beau Jocque". And my dad calls me "Skeeter" to this day. A few years ago, I found out that the drummer Steve Charlot's nickname is "Skeeta" not "Skeeter", haha. That music was the sound of my middle school. I remember playing it on a cassette tape player as I walked to Marine Park with my friends. My dad and I were so sad when Beau Jocque passed away.
