I. "Love is..."
Have you ever been told you don’t know what love is?
II. "The Origin Story (Exposition)"
Three years ago a man got on a plane and never looked back.
Two years ago she got a call from the hotel porters,
Asking about galaxies and quasars and black holes.
One year ago, their freezing cold hands ripped out your still beating heart.
Still beating, still praying. Still nothing.
III. "...because the internet"
When I was a child, I lived three separate lives.
My first life I lived with my family.
My second life I lived at school, and with my friends,
and my third life I lived on the internet.
Because online, I could be or do anything I want.
There’s a degree of separation: there’s no trauma, or consequence.
It’s just a bunch of text on a screen!
Just a bunch of text on a fucking screen!
So why do I-
IV. "The Voyage (Aria)"
-see stars in my sleep,
get lost in nebulae when I close my eyes.
Voyage on, starship I: explore planets and galaxies,
My favourite aliens are the ones who look just like me.
V. "GREDOS"
I wish I remembered the landscapes of Sierra de Gredos.
I wish I remembered getting lost in the mountains,
the late night phone calls,
the memories teenage me wishes they would have treasured.
But I don’t.
What I do remember is the depression, the anxiety.
Your third life taking over.
You can’t tell what’s real from what’s not.
And I remember why you said what you said,
When you told me I didn't know what love was:
You were right. You were right.
You were right.
VI. "The Spacefaring Colony (Finale)"
Sometimes it hurts to breathe.
Or get out of bed, or simply exist.
Starship I, has run out of fuel,
is falling apart.
So take it day by day.
Like a colony orbiting a distant star:
Keep on keeping on.
Keep on keeping on.
