Thank you for giving attention to this song. I think the 70's ZZ Top albums are a goldmine of musical ideas. Most songs are blues based of course but they all have unique vibes and little cool details and are recorded differently which keeps things fresh within albums

Nice. I love Billy's rhythm work on this one too. And those 11th chords are wonderful!!

I love Shiek. One of the first albums I owned at 11 back in 73. I have a fun video for it in mind.

Lovely chords and funky notes. THANK YOU!! I always thought Manic Mechanic was a unique song from Billy as well. Crazy beautiful chords with funky rhythms.

Hey thanks. Yeah Manic Mechanic is another one like that, those chords he strikes are interesting too.

Thanks for your theoretical analysis! I always loved this song as well, but didn't know the theory behind it. BFG is an amazing guitarist. You also have a great command of the guitar. Thanks again!

Don’t forget to lower the high E string to D. You can clearly see it in the little clip of Cheap Sunglasses. Classic BFG trick.

Tres Hombres is an essential guitar album.Such a great player, and he uses 8's !!!
@ChananHanspal Жыл бұрын
I agree, and yes 8's!!! Quite remarkable!
@JohnLloydDavis Жыл бұрын
I remember an interview I read some years ago that Zappa had also used 8's and even 7's as he said he couldn't develop callouses on his fingers very easily.

@@JohnLloydDavis Well the lighter gauges certainly didn't affect those wonderful guitar tones!

@@ChananHanspal absolutely, he had such an amazing ear for a great tone. Even using that tiny Pignose practice amp in the 70’s. There’s a great video of him playing Black Napkins with a house band just using the Pignose with a mic in front of it.
