This is one horror movie where characters make stupid decisions for a good thematic reason. Tess tells Kieth how she keeps coming back to her ex, to a bad relationship, how she just has to stop coming back, and that's exactly what she keeps doing in the movie - coming back instead of saving herself, out of some misguided sense of obligation or thinking 'I can save him'. AJ just strolls into the torture basement not even realizing what he stumbled upon, while Tess was terrified and immediately knew what it was, becasue he walks around the world with no sense of danger, which again relates to what Tess was telling Kieth at the beginning. Even their introductions are opposites - she's in the dark, in the rain, confused about the code, and he's driving in the sun light, singing with the radio. It's all about the different experiences of men vs. women.

The second Tess stepped into the scary ass dungeon to find Keith, who is clearly being put in distress by an outside force, I was so uninvested in her character. Like what are you going to do, Tess? Throw your phone at whoever is traumatizing Keith? She didn't even grab a weapon. And then she did it AGAIN after escaping and going back to save Justin Long, once again not grabbing a damn thing to protect herself. Honestly the only reason I was rooting for her at the end was because I didn't want Weinstein Jr. to be the sole survivor.

this is definitely movie of the year for me! i loved it and it’s the first in a while to actually scare me! the beginning kinda reminds me of psycho too. the way they’re just talking and hanging out and then it completely changes into a whole other movie. i love how it’s visually/stylistically separated into different parts too!

I felt bad for Teresita (that's how I named the woman), she just wanted to be a mother, the real villains in this movie are the men. 😔 I swear that Justing Long made me laugh so much in this movie, as much as I hate his character, he's so stupid that I just can't but laugh... Great reaction. Could you do "Jeepers Creepers" next time?, to continue with this Scream king 🙏
