I'm wondering what drivers are in this speaker. I doubt if they were made by Kenwood. There was a speaker company, Legend Audio, not the current brand of the same name. Now they were in California,in the late 80's and 90's, and the owner made speakers, mostly distributed by home audio and surround system installers. These "LEG" speakers had very heavy mdf cabinets, and used Vifa and Peerless (high end drivers and tweeters) that were available through Speaker City in Burbank, that were sold cheap. Speaker City also sold crossover parts, as they were the place for DIY speaker enthusiast. One model, the LEG 7000 , were among a few tower speakers available, and looked like this Kenwood. It had a Scanspeak (famous Dutch brand in high end companies back then) silk dome tweeter, a 4 1/2" Vifa midrange, and a 10" steel cast Vifa heavy duty woofer. Vifa was used in many high end brands like Audio Physic (still in business) ,Snell, Polk, Definitive, PSB, and Dahlquist, just to name a few. I once had a pair of these "LEG",Legend Audio speakers, that were made to be large center channels. They were big, had legendary Vifa ,Pw17J00-08,6 1/2 inch woofers, and a Vifa ,D19 silk dome tweeter. I got them for under $200 bucks a pair, were in mint condition,in black oak cabinets. Just one of the many speakers I sold to a friend for what I paid. Man did they sound good. What was I thinking? I could have modded them easily because I had mutiple sets of high end Morel MDT30,classic tweeters, that I bought from Speaker City back then. Such is life when you get old and look back. I don't even want to get into the classic handmade guitars I had,and sold dirt cheap.

@@deydrm They are Kenwood I checked them. By the way, the speakers are manufactured in Germany, They are speakers of the highest class at that time. One box weighs about 60KG. They are not LEG 7000 for sure believe me

@@vagk I wouldn't think that LEG audio could have made this Kenwood speaker. It would be the other way around. The guy who owned this company wasn't a speaker designer or engineer,to the best of my knowledge. So it would have been easier to take another good sounding speaker, and find the drivers and tweeters, and then wire up a crossover, based upon the cabinet's volume. The higher end speaker drivers, and crossover parts, were readily available at Speaker City. Remember, this is before Part Express, Parts connection, and other online website stores, were known. But since these speakers were made in Germany, and not Japan, where Kenwood resided,it tells me that they weren't made in house, with Kenwood drivers. They were probably contracted by Kenwood to produce a limited run of a high end speaker. Something that Kenwood wasn't known for. Back in the 90's ,I made friends with a Chinese guy, whose family just opened a home theater and stereo store in San Gabriel,Ca. I picked up a pair of Pioneer ST300 towers, for the price he gave the guy on trade in. Pioneer didn't make good speakers that cost much, and so nobody wanted them. He carried NHT, Paradigm, Dahlquist, and also ordered from catalogs,if you wanted. These Pioneer St300 towers had solid cabinets, though vinyl wrapped, they had 1" front baffles. I bought these speakers for the cabinets, for $150. The drivers were cheap, but the crossover wasn't bad. I doubt they were made in Japan, but maybe they were. So I put two 6 1/2 Peerless drivers (150 watt heavy duty, and a Morel Cat 378 horn tweeter (150 watts_). After spending months, figuring out the port lengths needed, and crossover mods, I ended up with a high end sounding pair of tower speakers. I was never rich, and bought cheap audio equipment when a deal came by. These speakers, because of the impedance, spl, and wattage ratings ,weren't easy to drive. The last amp I acquired at a good price was a first gen Emotiva XPA-2 . It replaced my Adcom 555mk2 amp. The Adcom was dull, decent bass, but just didn't sound that good. Especially with these speakers. But the Emotiva XPR-2 was the best amp I had ,and the speakers came alive. I enjoyed them for a year, and then, because the Emotiva had the power, and I listened to classic hard rock at concert levels, I blew two of the woofers. And sadly, those woofers were discontinued now,and I couldn't get them at Speaker City cheap. So I moved on. Want to hear a decent speaker line that's cheap? Check out the last models of the Energy Connoiseur line, the RC70,and especially the center channel, which I still have. They're cheap when you find them, they're made fairly well, with veneer, not vinyl, and the tweeter has a beautiful midrange to it. Much better than my SVS Ultra towers.
