First episode was largely **"FUN Inspired**"... definitely FUN and not un... 😅 This is not to say that each ride has not been fun. FUN is always an inspiration and the goal. But when you're riding with visiting friends (as in my first video), you're just down for the ride and just enjoying things together. Experimenting and learning things simultaneously is a nice added bonus. I've had an absolute blast with this opportunity to learn about the EVO. Sharing these videos more on a ride by ride, test by test, or experience by experience basis is like taking you along with me. Hope you enjoy it too. It's helping to make combing through the mountain of 360 footage less overwhelming. Although, I still need to simplify shooting AND editing even more to keep up. AND to keep things FUN Hoping I can catch up on these videos so that I can begin sharing them closer to the dates they were recorded as if things were more LIVE.

Hi, just to let you know I am enjoying your content and appreciating your experience and feedback. I am also the lucky owner of a waydoo flyer evo pro + 90. The only downsize is that I am living in Paris and has less opportunities than others living near sea or lake, still this year i will ride the Marne river near Paris because thanks to the olympics, the cities around paris have made Big efforts since the past 5 year. Now for the sun, it is another story 🙂

Awesome. Paris, wow! Thanks for letting me know. I like to say that "summer is just 5mm away" ... But that's based on temps here at Powell and my experience. A wetsuit may help hurry summer along 😃🤙 I'll have another video from the Utah boat show posted today. I ended up putting more work and edits into it than originally planned. Then I'll get back to my ride tests videos to try to catch up to current day

As far as the Voyager 1500 (originally Explorer wing) having too much lift, you could try: *a lower speed and/or more gradual acceleration to flying speed *Shim the rear part of the stabilizer wing with a 2mm nylon washer around the rear bolt * Try one of the other wings if you have access to the others

That must be the 35 inch mast? Is it the board w the height sensor?
@eFoilLakePowell
@eFoilLakePowell 13 күн бұрын
Yes! The long aluminum 35" mast. Love riding high! Excellent clearance over surf-boat waves in summer too. This is the Waydoo Flyer EVO Pro Plus model. The "plus (+)" signifies that it has the smart tech features such as the Flight Assist sensors. However, those sensors were turned off and not in use for this clip. More info on the setup in video description The Flight Assist tech is really handy for beginners or learning new things like riding switch-stance or body varials. I've also used it to alleviate those moments when perfect, reflective glassy conditions overwhelm the senses. I'm not confident that the Assist can be relied on for harder sharper turns, but is good for mild turns. But if an advanced rider is looking to shave some weight and has no intention on using the smart tech, the EVO Pro (no plus) will be just a bit lighter without the smart tech inside. It is green in color instead of blue. It's actually the lightest board available from Waydoo Standard battery vs the larger battery will shave about 4 lbs more for even better handling.

In order to make the Aluminum available at reasonable price there will need to be a batch of 20 or more made. If demand is there for an Aluminum version then Jeff from eFoil Solutions will have a batch made. Otherwise we may not see an aluminum version made available. Installation is virtually the same as any other prop for the Waydoo Flyer ONE. I may make a video on that, but I'll need to catch up on some other videos first

What thickness wetsuit are you wearing in Dec on Lake Powell?
@eFoilLakePowell
@eFoilLakePowell Ай бұрын
In this video I'm wearing a Billabong Absolute+ 5•4mm wetsuit. I recently purchased it during Black Friday Sales and is Plenty warm! I'm confident it will serve me well for the whole winter season. December has proven to be a transitional month for wetsuit thickness for me. On nice sunny calm days I'll be ok with a 3mm suit like my older Xcel 3•2 suit (that suit keeps on kicking. It was my first wetsuit I bought as an adult at a discount sale over 10 years ago) but a 5mm is better in December for me. I bought my first 5mm and first chest-zip suit (Dakine brand 5•4•3) in January 2022 because I was having withdrawals after not foiling for a month or more 😂. The Dakine suit started having a few leaks at the end of winter 2024 and is no longer much warmer than the Xcel 3mm suit. I knew I'd need a new one for January - March and bought the Billabong one. I have never tried anything thicker than 5mm. 5mm seemed thick enough with the Dakine the past two Winters and I'm liking this newer Billabong even more. It has nicer jersey-like material on the inside on the core... But with that said, the newer version of the Dakine I was wearing before looks to have a better updated interior too. I'm also liking the BUILT-IN hood more than I thought I would. I Initially didn't think I liked hoods because of an uncomfortable experience with a separate older and stiffer hood years ago. Seems wetsuits keep getting better and better like most things. Definitely more comfortable than the suits I wore as a kid up to November only. Foiling is the first activity that has inspired me to continue enjoying Watersports past November. Here's to hoping the new suit lasts 2 or more seasons vs the Dakine's 2 seasons. Preferably more of course 😃

Discovered that efoiling is a ton of fun and will be more than just a stepping stone to winging, for sure. Purchased a new O'neill 3/4 to replace a 2/3....but I'm afraid I'll need a 5mm w/hood to get out on the water now! The 3/4 will extend the season though, for sure. @@eFoilLakePowell Nice. Do you remove the whole cage unit or cut the cage off?
@eFoilLakePowell
@eFoilLakePowell 2 ай бұрын
@bones99999 The entire cage has been removed. It comes off relatively easy. No cutting required. The main prop guard piece has been replaced with what is commonly known in the industry as a "prop cone." The Prop Cone will have the same core shape as the piece of the prop guard between the prop and the motor, but without the spokes of the prop guard. I am using the prop cone from the folding prop kit, but with the original 3 blade prop. The back part of the prop guard can be removed simply by twisting it off. This will reduce drag a little bit, but not as much as removing the entire thing and replacing it with a prop cone. I prefer the looser feeling without the guard. Even the jet feels somewhat looser (to me) than the big circumference of the prop guard. Not sure if the prop cone is available to purchase alone by itself outside the folding prop kit yet. I'll have to recommend Waydoo and dealers, (such as my friends at Adventure Elevated in Utah) carry and sell the prop cone as an individual part for those that may not intend to surf waves or wakes. The folding prop is up to 10% more efficient than the uncovered standard prop (based on two controlled tests at 15 mph) But the foldy has a lower top speed (but still very fast) and is not as breach friendly.

Im hoping to catch up on videos and projects. I'm behind and I've underestimated (again) how busy the last few months (quarter) of the year can get for me and my family. Looking forward to sharing more from earlier this year and new things going now such as the EVO. Lift has a great deal going on now for the Lift 4. Part of the reason for the deal is to move inventory for the eventual arrival of the next generation Lift eFoils. Little has been seen/ announced publicly so far, but it appears the next Lift eFoil will be entirely different, leaving compatibility behind. Much how the Waydoo EVO is not compatible with the previous gen. Lots of cool stuff and evolution of foiling as a whole on the horizon. 2025 will be amazing I think. Trying to make the most of things till then too. Wishing the same for you. Enjoy the rest of the year and on.

do you know if the One+ jet fits on the Evo?
@eFoilLakePowell
@eFoilLakePowell 2 ай бұрын
No it will not fit. The jet attaches in a totally different way. Other than that, you can expect the EVO jet to look and function exactly the same as the jet for the Flyer ONE Series. The way it attaches is the only significant difference. Much the same can be said about the Folding Prop too. Expect the same performance, but improved flow of water from fuselage to prop blades because the core of the prop is more conical vs a small cylinder. A small but big difference between the Flyer EVO and Flyer ONE series is the pin that slides through the shaft to spin the prop is THICKER on the EVO than the ONE. Nothing is compatible between the EVO and ONE... Except the tail stabilizer... Sorta... The EVO stabilizer has a small nub on the bottom (to help hold it in place while screwing it down), but it could be ground off to fit the Flyer ONE series. Hoping to catch up on some videos to show these things and more in detail.

@eFoilLakePowell
@eFoilLakePowell 4 ай бұрын
Hello, glad to know the video provided some help to get things going. MSO/MCO should be provided by the seller. If you purchased from a dealer (local or online) it should be provided by the seller. If you bought direct from Waydoo you should get it from Waydoo or possibly the USA Waydoo distributor. I recently purchased a new Waydoo Flyer One PLUS deck only from Green Hat Kiteboarding online. (Very fast shipping 👍) MSO had somehow slid under one of the bottom flaps of the box AND stuck to the bottom of the flap. I nearly missed it! If you still have the original box, check the box again. Check every single panel of the box to be sure it didn't fall into a crazy hidden spot like mine. I'd suggest contacting whoever you purchased it from first. Then reach out to Waydoo about the document(s)

How do you shift your weight in that position?
@eFoilLakePowell
@eFoilLakePowell 4 ай бұрын
It's tough for sure. Shifting more or less weight into my forearms and putting my head up or down helps with elevation control. Legs straight and down vs knees bent and legs up can help with shifting weight forward and back too. Turning is done by rolling weight from hip to hip and thigh to thigh. Forearms come into play here too. More weight on left or right arm. Varying the speed is important too. You may need to vary the speed more in prone than other positions pending if your trying to carve or not. Eventually you'll figure out where you need to lay on the board to have a nice balance of all these limited motions. Superman! And Live Life to the Foilest
@eFoilLakePowell
@eFoilLakePowell 4 ай бұрын
When standing, your center of gravity is highest, but you have the most control over that gravity and can shift it around significantly and quickly. When kneeling, your center of gravity is lower and you have pretty good ability to shift around. Prolonged kneeling can lead to fatigue after a while for most people though. Sitting has equally low center of gravity, but because the butt is squishy it does not respond as quickly as the harder knees do. I can sit all day and ride because it's comfortable. When in prone position your center of gravity is lowest but there is very little control over that center of gravity as we are discussing I love riding in every position. Switching it up, just keeps it being so much fun

Love your channel. A lot of really useful information. However, encouraging people to bring their tunes with them on an eFoil is going to be a quick way to piss the entire world off. I know every boater wants to play music, it seems, but on a flat day like you've shown, that music will travel *miles*. There is nothing more annoying to me than hearing someone's soundtrack from a mile away on an otherwise calm and serene day on the water. Perhaps you could make a video about helmet mounted ear phone-like products.
@eFoilLakePowell
@eFoilLakePowell 4 ай бұрын
That's a very good point. It is after all one of the reasons that people will say that they don't like wakeboats or wake surfers is because some of them are blasting tunes with their giant speakers 🤪. We definitely want to maintain good public perception of efoiling. So far, based on my location at Lake Powell, people really love efoils because we're so quiet and make no wake. Keeping things quiet when in serene public environments will be important. When I'm in canyons, especially Antelope Canyon where there are paddle sports or slow moving boats and fishing, I will pause the music. Echos in the canyon are no good for others either If I plan to be riding aggressively, I often won't bring the music at all because listening to the cues of the water tension breaking from the wings or the prop reaching the surface is extremely important. I know this is something that I have mentioned in some of my videos. I know some people use waterproof bone conducting headphones. I'm just not sure how well they will work while someone is wearing different kinds of helmets. I like the idea of the bone conducting ones because it keeps the rider's ears open for listening to other boaters and hazards. Which is also why I like the Bluetooth speaker instead of headphones or earbuds. But if you have a product suggestion for a helmet mounted one that will not filter out ambient noise too much, let me know I'll definitely try to point out good public etiquette of noise in future videos. Glad you're enjoying the content and appreciate the feedback 🤙
@davidw860
@davidw860 4 ай бұрын
FINIS Duo conducting earphones are great for swimming, but they don't really connect to your head well without goggles. They would be hard to attach without losing them in a wipeout, too. I imagine there must be some sort of helmet mounted headphones considering the snowboard/surfing industry.

This was actually very helpful. My way to get up in the past was to stand before even going planing speed, usually 5 or 6. Then increase to flying speed after putting my front foot on the extra grip padding I added, so way up front. Once planing I move my front foot back to the hinge line and my back foot back, then try to fly. But I'm finding this method to be problematic. I can get my front foot to where I want it, but never seem to be able to get my back foot far enough back. I end up bouncing instead of maintaining a consistent flying height. I was thinking about changing my procedure so that I have my feet set in the right position before I try to stand. So more like what you're doing in this video.
@eFoilLakePowell
@eFoilLakePowell 5 ай бұрын
Glad to hear the video was helpful. Even if it simply inspires some new methods or adjustments. Building speed while standing is one of the methods I demonstrated. As you said, moving the rear foot can be difficult for many. Getting that rear foot positioned roughly where you ultimately want it first, helps a lot. If rear foot needs to be moved it might be easier to go back to knees and start over with an adjusted rear foot position and try again. Taking mental note of what feels better so it can be repeated. Eventually, a rider will have enough experience and balance that they can get up with little thought and even some sloppiness and then adjust any foot on the fly. For someone new it may

Also it took me a while to fully realize how much of a challenge this board shape can be for some but not for others. I've had people who I'd expect to struggle, pop up no problem. I've also seen a couple cases where very experienced riders struggle unexpectedly.

I HATE seeing those stupid things on Lake Powell. We work here, lakewide. Not one of you take consideration for other people regarding traffic, proximity, personal space, IN THE MARINAS. For fucks sake, I'd wake you out.🖕

I actually got them as a package along with titanium bolts and the Axis fuselage adapters from the eFoil Premium Gears (rip) BUT Here's an Amazon link for just the latches that other's found for replacement/upgrade a.co/d/2ShxcoG The FOIL shop is also still open for selling remaining parts they have on stock. They have plastic board latches still shop.getfoil.com/collections/accessories
