How did you get an MSO/MCO for the Waydoo, trying to register in Alabama. I watched you registration in Utah video, thanks!
@eFoilLakePowell
@eFoilLakePowell 23 күн бұрын
Hello, glad to know the video provided some help to get things going. MSO/MCO should be provided by the seller. If you purchased from a dealer (local or online) it should be provided by the seller. If you bought direct from Waydoo you should get it from Waydoo or possibly the USA Waydoo distributor. I recently purchased a new Waydoo Flyer One PLUS deck only from Green Hat Kiteboarding online. (Very fast shipping 👍) MSO had somehow slid under one of the bottom flaps of the box AND stuck to the bottom of the flap. I nearly missed it! If you still have the original box, check the box again. Check every single panel of the box to be sure it didn't fall into a crazy hidden spot like mine. I'd suggest contacting whoever you purchased it from first. Then reach out to Waydoo about the document(s)

How do you shift your weight in that position?
@eFoilLakePowell
@eFoilLakePowell Ай бұрын
It's tough for sure. Shifting more or less weight into my forearms and putting my head up or down helps with elevation control. Legs straight and down vs knees bent and legs up can help with shifting weight forward and back too. Turning is done by rolling weight from hip to hip and thigh to thigh. Forearms come into play here too. More weight on left or right arm. Varying the speed is important too. You may need to vary the speed more in prone than other positions pending if your trying to carve or not. Eventually you'll figure out where you need to lay on the board to have a nice balance of all these limited motions. Superman! And Live Life to the Foilest
@eFoilLakePowell
@eFoilLakePowell Ай бұрын
When standing, your center of gravity is highest, but you have the most control over that gravity and can shift it around significantly and quickly. When kneeling, your center of gravity is lower and you have pretty good ability to shift around. Prolonged kneeling can lead to fatigue after a while for most people though. Sitting has equally low center of gravity, but because the butt is squishy it does not respond as quickly as the harder knees do. I can sit all day and ride because it's comfortable. When in prone position your center of gravity is lowest but there is very little control over that center of gravity as we are discussing I love riding in every position. Switching it up, just keeps it being so much fun

Love your channel. A lot of really useful information. However, encouraging people to bring their tunes with them on an eFoil is going to be a quick way to piss the entire world off. I know every boater wants to play music, it seems, but on a flat day like you've shown, that music will travel *miles*. There is nothing more annoying to me than hearing someone's soundtrack from a mile away on an otherwise calm and serene day on the water. Perhaps you could make a video about helmet mounted ear phone-like products.
@eFoilLakePowell
@eFoilLakePowell Ай бұрын
That's a very good point. It is after all one of the reasons that people will say that they don't like wakeboats or wake surfers is because some of them are blasting tunes with their giant speakers 🤪. We definitely want to maintain good public perception of efoiling. So far, based on my location at Lake Powell, people really love efoils because we're so quiet and make no wake. Keeping things quiet when in serene public environments will be important. When I'm in canyons, especially Antelope Canyon where there are paddle sports or slow moving boats and fishing, I will pause the music. Echos in the canyon are no good for others either If I plan to be riding aggressively, I often won't bring the music at all because listening to the cues of the water tension breaking from the wings or the prop reaching the surface is extremely important. I know this is something that I have mentioned in some of my videos. I know some people use waterproof bone conducting headphones. I'm just not sure how well they will work while someone is wearing different kinds of helmets. I like the idea of the bone conducting ones because it keeps the rider's ears open for listening to other boaters and hazards. Which is also why I like the Bluetooth speaker instead of headphones or earbuds. But if you have a product suggestion for a helmet mounted one that will not filter out ambient noise too much, let me know I'll definitely try to point out good public etiquette of noise in future videos. Glad you're enjoying the content and appreciate the feedback 🤙
@davidw860

FINIS Duo conducting earphones are great for swimming, but they don't really connect to your head well without goggles. They would be hard to attach without losing them in a wipeout, too. I imagine there must be some sort of helmet mounted headphones considering the snowboard/surfing industry.

This was actually very helpful. My way to get up in the past was to stand before even going planing speed, usually 5 or 6. Then increase to flying speed after putting my front foot on the extra grip padding I added, so way up front. Once planing I move my front foot back to the hinge line and my back foot back, then try to fly. But I'm finding this method to be problematic. I can get my front foot to where I want it, but never seem to be able to get my back foot far enough back. I end up bouncing instead of maintaining a consistent flying height. I was thinking about changing my procedure so that I have my feet set in the right position before I try to stand. So more like what you're doing in this video.
@eFoilLakePowell
@eFoilLakePowell Ай бұрын
Glad to hear the video was helpful. Even if it simply inspires some new methods or adjustments. Building speed while standing is one of the methods I demonstrated. As you said, moving the rear foot can be difficult for many. Getting that rear foot positioned roughly where you ultimately want it first, helps a lot. If rear foot needs to be moved it might be easier to go back to knees and start over with an adjusted rear foot position and try again. Taking mental note of what feels better so it can be repeated. Eventually, a rider will have enough experience and balance that they can get up with little thought and even some sloppiness and then adjust any foot on the fly. For someone new it may

✨⚠️ Make sure your battery bay door latches and seals water tight! Adding an unnecessary amount of foam could elevate your battery hatch too much and create a leak. If you feel your battery isn't moving in your battery box, don't bother modifying it with foam. I found it beneficial for *me* but do so at your own discretion pending your circumstances. Thought I'd just put that out there 😉 My process of finding the right amount of foam *for me*: I used a thin foam sheet from the crafting department at Walmart. It already had a peel and stick surface on one side. I cut it into squares and stuck it to the battery ONLY at first. I still noticed movement when carrying my eFoil and stuck more foam on the underside of the battery bay hatch. Two additional slightly thicker foam pieces (green strips) were added to snug it up just a bit more. Adding just a bit more thickness in foam till movement stopped and door latches shut normally Hope this helps. Live Life to the Foilest

@eFoilLakePowell Ай бұрын
I actually did pick up the Axis Foil adapters. No experience with Sabfoil. But one of the original testers got crazy range and time with a Sabfoil wing. I think it was the leviathan wing? I'll have a review of the Axis adapters at some point in the future. I just finished testing a handful of Axis wings with different props, including some wake poaching with Waydoo folding prop. Using the Axis Spitfire 840 (possibly my favorite all around Axis wing) and streamline prop I was able to get 14-15 miles range even though it's on the smaller side of the spitfire range. Spitfire 840 has less drag than the explorer wing, better turns, and more range. I'd say it's suited for intermediate and up but not best for learning or beginners.

It feels much cooler when in motion. There is cooler air off the water. You start out IN the water (which sometimes can be in the mid or high 80⁰ s) and then allow the air to super-cool your wet body... That's the ULTIMATE CHILL... It's the best! There will be times you crash and can refresh, re-wet, and start again. Really it's a lot like any other watersport in this regard. Also if I dig my heels into the water a bit more I can spray 💦 myself with water. Can't do that on a waterski or wakeboard... But there are ways to spray yourself on those activities too, but just a bit harder to do. My helmet has a thin fabric liner. If I dunk my head it helps stay cool too. But also warmer in winter time. Best of both seasons (wetsuit season and no wetsuit season 😉)

Emergency paddle for when it dies?
@eFoilLakePowell
@eFoilLakePowell 2 ай бұрын
Good question. There is no room for a paddle. Especially on the more advanced models equipped with a smaller board. Best solution would be a mini portable diving scooter jet. Waydoo has a mini jet scooter that can attach to arm, leg, or even a SUP for assistance. In general, it's a good idea to not go any further from shore than you're willing to swim. It's good to let people at home know your plans, especially if riding solo. Familiarity with your gear and the limitations and range of the battery is important. I take a cell phone and a dry bag on every trip. My battery has up to 15 mi of range. The very back part of this Canyon is About 3 mi from my starting point. There are other boats and people that visit this canyon throughout the day that could provide assistance should I have a major malfunction... Much like any other watercraft I've been riding for almost 4 years (year round). I can count on one hand the number of times I've needed assistance. Mostly due to my own fault and pushing the battery to its end which is not good for the longevity of the battery. Once was malfunction out of hundreds of rides and thousands of miles. My Waydoo eFoil has been pretty reliable.

@eFoilLakePowell day pack with a paddle that breaks down is too much?
@eFoilLakePowell
@eFoilLakePowell 2 ай бұрын
@@williamevans6522 It might work 🤔. Maybe for trips where cruising and exploration is priority. Otherwise, I don't really want to be falling into the water with such a thing and a pack on my back when I'm out carving harder and trying to progress. Every bit of extra weight when you're balancing 2-3 ft off the water can make it harder. A paddle might possibly be no less cumbersome than the scooter jet I mentioned, but I don't even take one of those. Overall I think the scooter jets would work better. Take the smaller more advanced board setup for example again. It will not have the buoyancy to support the weight of a typical adult rider bellow 7mph or so. It becomes a very heavy kickboard with a ton of resistance. Not sure how well a paddle can be used while prone or sitting on a board that is being drug bellow the surface of the water. Laying prone with a scooter jet would be better. I might have to give it a try someday I guess. Otherwise I feel pretty covered and safe with my current methods. Likewise I hope you get a chance to try foiling. It's not hard or easy... Just different. And a whole lot of fun

The Vibram 5 fingers were indeed a really great feel for sure. Possibly the best performance on the board of all shoes tried. When I added the picture of the shoes I was surprised to see they had holes in the soles for drainage. I had totally forgotten they had holes. They must have been small enough that sand coming through the bottom wasn't a problem like the larger drain holes in the soles of the Amazon Racqua shoes, I may have given up on the Vibrams too soon for a picky reason. I only tried them maybe 5 times. 😅 One thing about the 5 finger shoes is that they fit a more narrow margin of the average human foot shape. They cover the center of the bell curve of feet you could say. There are lots of foot shapes that just don't work well with them A perfect example is the CEO of Xero Shoes. He said he may have never been inspired to start his company if the five fingers had fit his foot. For those with a less-than-average foot shape, especially around the toes, the non-fingered barefoot shoes will have a more suitable fit (even better fit than the pointy big shoe brands like Nike 😉) Glad you enjoyed the video(s). Thanks for sharing. It helps me feel better about the end result of this project. It was unexpectedly challenging to make. Because this topic is so important to me, I allowed passion, time, and a perfectionist 'tude get in the best of me. Overall I hope people are inspired to learn more about improving their foundation - their foot strength and movement, even if they don't change their wardrobe 👟

⭐ IMPORTANT: Many people will need to transition into using their feet more naturally. Just like how rehabilitation is needed after a broken/ immobilized limb is removed from a cast or brace. Time, footwear, and or tools and exercises can be utilized in different ways for each person to find what works best. As Xero Shoes CEO says, "let fun be your guide" The "No pain no gain" thought can potentially lead to injury of the feet or more. Pain, instead is an indication you should stop and or change what your doing... "until you are having fun" ✨ Please check the video description for more thoughts, info, resources, and links. My overall foot health still has much room for improvement, especially when compared to the abilities my children's feet have.

Great video. I wear neoprene socks during the winter time for warmth. Something to consider for Summer as that carry from the beach to the water can be painful on the feet depending on the temp or rocks. Thanks for the reviews and videos!!

Same! Neoprene booties in the winter. Maybe I should have included those too. I bought some from the reliable O'neill wetsuit brand with wide toe box Pretty much all the high-end wetsuit brands have nice wide toe box neo boots. Thanks for watching and commenting

Links to shoes used in video description If anyone decides to purchase some Xero Shoes over all other options out there check my affiliate link bellow... Not just the Aqua X Sport, but any model, because maybe one of their everyday shoes not made for water will keep the sand out while still being lightweight and ok for swimming. Or if you're buying them for a more common use and not for eFoil 😉 xeroshoes.com/go/Byromie

Nice! 🌵 Coincidentally I actually picked up some Saguaro Shoes (Free I barefoot shoe) in fluorescent green to match my helmet 💚 🪖. I tried out for the first time yesterday immediately after making this video. As with a note I made at the end of the video, I'm hoping they might tick more of my needs without being too heavy or bulky so they don't impact swimming. So far so good, but only 1 use. Gotta give them a longer trial before I review them,... But hopefully I don't wait YEARS to review them too like I have the life vest, helmet, and shoes, and sunglasses (still needs a review video) 😂😆😅

Hey man! Nice Video… just awesome with this view. Did you Film with the insta360 and the 3m Stick?

Thanks. Love this canyon. Close and accessible and sometimes a challenging fun ride between launch and the start of the canyon through a short section of the main channel. Yes I used the insta 360 X3 but I modified my stick last year so its maximum length is about 6 feet or 2 meters. 3 meters is a bit excessive and adds more strain and risk than necessary. 1 meter is too short to capture wider angles and the scenery without noticeable significant distortion on the edges. 6 ft is a A good sweet spot and compromise for doing it all

Nothing from Castle Rock cut this year? Probably a bit late now. Two feet of water remaining being the main problem.

There's a clip close to the end that shows me eFoiling through the entire length of the cut this year. It is sped up because it's 1 mile long. I think one of my shorts shows it as well. But now it's too risky to eFoil through. If an eFoil stayed elevated high the whole way through it'd be possible. Might be a fun Red Bull sponsored event 😆. Shallow water eFoiling riding high. But too risky for me as stated.

Here's one of the two stories I did of the Castle Rock Cut this year. It and the whole lake was 4 feet deeper than last year at the high water level kzbin.info42iIa6igRDE?si=H4nNF-QpQ3QNX6Mj
