bro compressing events and timeline was an inevitable. for example if I'm not mistaken creating the rings takes wat like a century. did we rrly want to wait 20 seasons for that. lore/book purists man, who feed off nostalgia its gonna be like only 5 seasons,so we cant have extremely big century timelein jumps because humans cant live that long and we need to build up their characters along with he elves we know slowly to make for interesting tv. for the other half u ramble about acting and voice acting and that's ur opinion ur entitled to. plus u overexaggerate said decline. its not like its cancelled or anything so who cares that some book/lore purist like urself moan and complain when they see one thing that isn't the exact same as what they interpreted from the lore they read.

You say I'm a 'lore purist' yet I intentionally did not mention the lore as one of the three main issues with the show. To me this speaks that you did not in fact watch the video and only assumed what I was going to say, and you did so wrongly. The Trilogy also compressed events, however when it is done, it needs to be done smart. In the case of RoP, that could have been fixed and done better, had there been about 4 more episodes per each season. If you remember the older TV shows, that took their time and had 16-24 episodes per season, that's how it should be, especially with so much story to tell. *your

I think it's a great fantasy show for what it's worth, and I'd hate to see it get cancelled (I seriously doubt it will). However I do kinda wish they stopped trying to be like the films so often because A - it's a fucking TV-show and B - there's no surpassing those films in terms of greatness and besides, the success of those films can't really be recreated in today's oversaturated media landscape anway. But season 2 really showed us what they are really about, and I feel like they've really found their identity. Could we all just perhaps stop trying to get it canned? If this show fails, there won't be another show about the Second Age for fucking ever.
@DiscussThing
@DiscussThing 8 күн бұрын
If the showrunners decide to continue making it, there will always be some people to watch it. However, the number drops are evidence that more and more people are being frustrated with the direction of the lore. If they get their pacing and passion points right, they might get some of those people back, but that won't fix the lore desecration. The best option in the long run would be a redo, more faithful to the lore, and with more attention to detail, without trying to rush it. It will show the fandom, that criticism is heard and that people's opinions matter. That, of course is a very fantastical scenario, and they'll probably continue down the same road, and we won't be seeing any faithful representation of Tolkien's Second Age, nor the First, anytime soon.

Yeah, it’s a pretty fantastical scenario. If this show were to get cancelled - which I still firmly believe it won’t - it would send a message to virtually any major studio across the globe that a LotR show that isn’t set during the events of LotR is never going to succeed. It wasn’t even considered a good business move before RoP, but Bezos wanted it made, and moved mountains (to him mere pebbles I guess) to get to do so. But as the shop has sailed - for better or worse - there will not be anything in the SÅ in a long time. We’d get a history channel mini series at best, and even that’s generous. I thought the show improved a great deal in season 2, especially in areas that were lacking last season and towards which much criticism had been made. So I see no real reason to believe that season 3 wouldn’t follow the same pattern and they aren’t listening to honest, good-faith criticism and learning from their mistakes. Eh it’s not flawless. Actually i was a bit hesitant on the first season but the second season was good. I do understand how they took lots of writing liberties because of the need to compress lots details in a span of 3000 years to just several episode. Even S. Jackson took some creative liberties as well. My take on this is, if you want to have tolkiens perspective then you are pretty much welcome to read all his books but on the other hand, if you just need to enjoy a compressed interpretation of tolkiens work thru cinema/videos then the movies and series os the way to go.

most of the time i see it being discussed, i see it link back to the bad parts of the topic we might say that inclusion and diversity are pushed way too far and that it does the complete opposite by excluding the other parties in reality we can see a lot of great examples of inclusion (a great old example is TF2, its filled with inclusion, it also has jokes a bit on the offensive side but at the end of the day nobody cares, even the characters have nothing against each other in the story) what we associate today with inclusion is what we have seen with companies such as "sweet baby inc." which have tried to shamelessly and effortlessly to implement these things and steamroll everything they don't agree with (and to add salt to the injury they have been exposed to have extremely racist and generally horrible people working for them) what is a thing i stand by is acceptance, we have seen it everywhere! (one of the most known examples was Steven universe) acceptance never excluded a certain group of people in order to make place for others, but it still did give the writers the chance to add these groups of people in anyway we should not let lazy shameless people that have nothing to do with the industry both run these operations and ruin the concepts themselves with their surface level thinking, depthless understanding and no idea what the community even wants

Its pleasing to the eye but its hollow and doesn't serve any purpose or bring any value. Comparing LOTR to a full course from a 3 star Michelin restaurant. The scores, the characters and writing, everything was absolutely perfect.
