I like it but I don't know the lore like the back of my hand either.

@@BurnedRemains Totally fine. If you like the show for what it is, more power to you. What I post are just opinions and some lore inserts.

Yeah. The desecrations perpetrated in fake-Bombadil's Gandalf quote can scarcely be counted. Book-Gandalf: "Many that live deserve death. And some die that deserve live. Can you give it to them?" It drives home because Frodo (or anyone else) can make alive people dead. But no-one can make dead people alive. Gandalf continues: "Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends." Whereas... fake-Bombadil wheels out the quotation in the exact opposite sense, to persuade fake-Gandalf to give up on Nori, and not give her the life she could otherwise have. What's worse, the question is changed from "can you give it [life] to them?" to "who are you to give it to them?" Changing it from an appeal to individual conscience to a question about worthiness with the implication "you aren't there yet pal". I do hope you can find more to say about this, in any way you wish to. Peace

@@pwmiles56 Thank you for the wonderful comment. You have summarized it quite well. The quote inserts in the show are nothing short of insults towards much much greater moments in the actual lore. It is extremely frustrating to see this, not only because it shows a lack of creativity, but a lack of respect. Add the interviews, where the showrunners blatantly say they want to respect the lore, and it kinda feels like someone's pissing with great satisfaction, desecrating everything fans hold dear.

I like it, this is a bold claim to say its an insult to token, i feel like the creation of the rings is a cool story to tell. All films and shows make adaptations. Its normal, but its a stretch to call it an insult, do you think Tolkein would be insulted by the films? The books he wrote are also a framework to world building and more stories. What i've noticed is the review are like 70% good, then when you come to youtube or reddit its a bunch of hate. Its a small subset of the entire population who actually watched it.

It is most certainly not a bold claim, when you have established lore, which has been tarnished thoroughly by a show. Adaptations basically adapt what is already there to the screen with as little changes as possible( like PJ's trilogy). As for whether or not Tolkien would be insulted, here is a direct quote: 'The canons of narrative in any medium cannot be wholly different; and the failure of poor films is often precisely in exaggeration, and in the intrusion of unwarranted matter owing to not perceiving where the core of the original lies.' Nothing in this show tells any part of the established story in a correct, or decent manner. You have small pebbles, that constitute names, places and past events from the lore, and all of it is buried in a pseudo Game Of Thrones Season 8 storyline, without any consistency, any logic, any respect or any coherent understanding of what these stories are trying to say. Having watched episode 7 as I am writing this - kissing one's Mother In Law while in an orc camp, is just another example of how intentionally disrespectful the showrunners are.
