One thing they didnt show here, the painting on the oot can be polished again so the finish is smooth as well, this doesnt make sense for the black/grey finish, as the roughness makes the pattern stand out more. There is a problem however, as polishing the paint with the stone would just destroy it, but they apply a small amount of soap (traditional hard soap, not liquid soap) which allows for the painted patterns to be burnished.

Can a person travel down to the area where the Mata Ortiz pottery is made and make on the spot purchase In USA currency? Must one speak Spanish? What is the best way to buy direct?
@rossadcock6192 жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel, Absolutely! The village of Mata Ortiz is a very special place. The people their will welcome you with open arms and are very appreciative of visitors to their village. You can buy directly from the potters homes as well as a few galleries in town. US currency is welcomed and you don't need to know Spanish. I recommend that you contact Pablo Carrillo at mataortiztours.com. These tours are a great way to get your feet wet and introduced to the Village and its fabulous artists! Enjoy your adventure. Ross

Hi Ross, I successfully hatched 2 star tortoise eggs. Need some guide on feeding. Please reply ASAP.
@rossadcock6194 жыл бұрын
That's awesome, congratulations. I feed mine a mixture of green leafy foods, grass's & no fruit. Soak them once a week in shallow water & get them out in the sun. There is a great Star Tortoise book by Jerry D. Fife that I highly recommend, it has an excellent chapter on feeding and what not to feed your Stars.

From the looks of your visit to this magnificent artist you really haven't helped improved his living situation much. Probably because you get the pots dirt cheap which is why you visit him directly to his house, typical American tourist. You sound so condescending too. Just speaking the truth.

Can you correct me if I'm wrong please sir , I have some star torts ,they have laid eggs ,, Kept them in a cool closet for a month in a incubator box ,,and after a month give it 30℃ for 2 months ,,is this the right way of hatching ,,need help brother ,,thank
@rossadcock6195 жыл бұрын
I'm not certain about keeping the eggs cool for the first Month. I put mine in an incubator with a temperature between 85 & 89 F. The higher temp will produce more females and the lower temp will produce a higher number of males. Good luck and I hope this info helps!

Love the green version like this one. Reminds me of Amazon basins. Do you plan to post some new vids of this one? Would like to see the change from 2014 to now. The Madagascar Tree Boas I've seen are all on the brown side of colors, are they green when young and fade to brown? Or is the Green a local specific color?
