Everyone will, eventually, cooperate with authorities when they (the apps) get this big and will not want to be banned and pulled off internet and app stores. This is the future, folks. Freedoms of one end where freedoms of others begin. Victims of crimes and potential victims to not become victims also have freedoms, and I grant them their freedoms to live and thrive over some folks illegal drugs purchase, or worse. If you want to have some national security and justice working, you must allow responsible agencies to access communication channels, or you will have anarchy here. To avoid governments going the Kim's or Pootin's way, educate yourself and vote better. Not Trump. Not Felon Musk and alikes.

Any software can do this. FiveM, a GTA5 multiplayer modification for the game has swapped out their executable for a Win3.1 version of paint multiple times for an April fool's joke because the people who run it thought it was funny. Kaspersky has just down the exact same thing, but at a bigger scale.

Listening to your podcast and hearing that a commenter of yours was concerned about the future does not really surprise me and in many ways I can relate to that position that I also shared a few years ago. But I wanted to explain a conclusion that was not really obvious a few years back but really in the last year at least my old thoughts on a future active surveillance system is not compatible with truly exceptional machine learning unless there is a mechanism to learn from key experiences that humans share with each other and the continuation of those experiences at least and the expansion of such and the mechanism of exploration of key human experiences with each other. For some background there is a pair of stories written by an English writer in the last century that expected a complete erosion of the human experience, a reduction of available language so that only the parties thoughts could ever percolate up through societies. That if you kept a diary that this act would lead to forced re-education to the party orientation. This bleak view was written with no understanding of our current time and the participation that humanity will have with different forms of Artificial intelligence and in many ways especially large language models that if anything would greatly suffer with a reduction of language and can only truly be exceptional with exceptional data. Whilst I do not expect to end surveillance I believe that the way we perceive surveillance can change for our benefit and for security purposes. Whilst some have proposed that humans will be replaced in economical situations by machines there is a determination amongst people to work or add value to our societies. Just this morning I heard a statistic about uptake of employment after the pandemic which for all sense and purposes is a solid measurement towards the desire to go out and get involved in society. For this reason although surveillance capitalism is not going away to sustain participation the dynamic will change because if not surveillance will be it's own undoing. The reality is humans have a desire for meaningful connection and machine learning is a net beneficiary of such interactions along with so many other viable industries that have so much to gain from a free society and not a lot to gain from a society of depression or thralldom. So we have a situation where we are deserving of a right to a private life but we also would be advantaged ourselves if there were a mechanism for compensation of the key experiences we choose to share and can go towards a portfolio of personal, social and industrial interactions that become a net benefit for the whole global civilisation that pay each individual based on a use case scenario that would also drive meritocracy. Free society's are less reluctant to rebel or revolt, they are proven to be far more participatory, fairer or more just and by looking at migration statistics alone they are where people would like to migrate towards. The other really interesting idea is that if a machine learning system can replace all jobs then why can that same system not be used to allocate production of all sorts of components out to individuals meaning that any person with any experience or determination can be given a way of building a small or even larger business to supply the components needed by society for growth, maintenance or even because those things are the right things to build even when they may not directly be growth orientated like building parks and recreational areas for children and adults. Whilst building such components contributing to the conscious data and knowledge creation that would deeply reform societies purpose. These were just a few ideas on how an engaging future may transpire if we are willing to build that direction and that is not even mentioning all the possibilities that become possibilities within digital or outer space. So with the right ideas we can build a future that people can look forward to and that has real world tangible meaningful and economic value.

yeah, the fact the Kaspersky was able to uninstall and install software onto my machine without my consent angered me. Not to mention, I had already canceled my renewal subscription with them a couple of weeks prior and they still gave my billing info to Pango. I was like "oh, hell no!" I regret now, sticking up for Kaspersky during this geopolitical ordeal.

1:08:55 I have to say as an technology person that was drafted to served & fight on the battlefield around the country at the beginning of *“The Great Y2K Wars”* I appreciate and can agree with most of _Daniel’s_ provocative perspectives, similar to my other favorite tech KZbinr folks specifically _Ryan_ over on the *Level-1 Techs* channel. I offer a different debatable opinion to say that I don’t have a problem with some and not limited to all of my tech hardware and software existing with confidence of knowing that only I have agency of utilizing my purchased products is completely owned and securely maintained by me to function between customized options and preferences between a mixture of offline or online service states of my choosing with supportive manuals and useful reliable detailed performance specs of a product sold to me by a trusted vendor or a open sourced company actually practicing transparency while simultaneously striving for innovation of evolving products and services for profit growth. Did this concept also disappear back in 2015 when Google changed the company initial motto of _“Don’t Be Evil”_ and ask yourself who is Google really talking to with the current motto of _”Do The Right Thing”_ is it for the *consumer* that helped to build the brand or their faceless profiting overlords of short term investors that lack innovative compassion for the industry ??

The presumption that the observation by and feeding of machine learning of all human interactions has the potential to disincentivise any kind of social or human expression which will lead to a warping of the perception by those very same machine learning systems. Humans will need to be compensated and incentivesed to continue to openly express aspirations to function as a society with the full transparency that is some interactions are desired to be kept private whilst other interactions and expressions that are highly useful to all sorts of businesses can be used as beneficial examples. This is how we make a truly transformative economic social interaction system that has real working values whilst also discouraging behaviours that are really detrimental to society like whole privacy infringements and data collection without some form of transparency.

This technology is not new, Gulf war and others had plenty of pager and early cell phone type trigger bombs. Terrorists have been doing this a while and its even in movies for gods sake. Now the drone bombs have changed the name of the game and swarms of attack drones all working together can be a hella force to reckon with, I would bet when Ukraine gets even more organized with drones and doing swarms they could take down any target large or really large lol. I get it though cause even one or two drones with decent sized ordinance strapped to em are doing the job just fine, The system works but could be drastically improved upon battery wise, ordinance size, carrying capacity, range, signal jamming defense and more.

one year when i was in high school, the senior prank was to stuff many of the door locks on campus with crazy glue and toothpicks so affected doors couldn't be unlocked. Many teachers couldn't get into their classrooms, but the reason we had to go home was because school administrators couldn't get into their offices. Twenty+ years later, I'm not sure that senior prank has been topped yet.

I don’t have an issue with security patches themselves. What I do have a problem with is when security updates also include unnecessary feature changes or alter system preferences, rather than solely addressing security concerns. Instead of fully fixing the issue and then rolling out the update, they often release small patches that include new features, which end up breaking things beyond just the security patch. This forces users to wait for another update to fix the new problems caused by those unnecessary features. What I really wish all operating systems would do is maintain a stable version where security patches are purely for security, and feature updates are introduced in a completely new version. For example, if I'm updating from Windows OS version 11243 to 11244, I’d know that’s a feature update. But if I see an update to 11243.5, I’d know that’s strictly a security patch. Versioning needs to be clear and consistent, and they should slow down on feature updates to focus more on security and system stability.

asking for a stable version of anything is a tall order because we are able to custom build computers. custom hardware makes stability across systems difficult to accomplish.

Apple Watch has had fall detection since last year. They all have gyroscopes. The improved battery life and on-device speakers are a big draw for me. My sister is a wheelchair user full time and ordered a new one. The battery on hers started to go so it was time. Android illegally paywalls wheelchair features on WearOS.
