Prefer the 5 year DTV visa only need 6 months max stay 150 days or less Also time in Vietnam and Japan. Can get a 5 year spousal visa in Japan and national health insurance based on local income. Had a retirement visa for 2 years before. Professionals handled it for me.

Even if overseas income ends up being not taxable in Thailand, one is probably going to have to do and file a bunch of paperwork to work it out. NOT! I retire to keep things simple with my monies here in the USA. No way am I going to now want to wrestle with whatever Thailand asks. Will Immigration require some paperwork when getting a retirement visa renewed? How will Thailand verify anything I submit about my overseas income? The IRS will not be sending them information. I will never give my overseas tax filing information to Thailand. Their information security is laughable.

Not quite accurate now on Non Immigrant O visa, no health insurance requirement is only applicable when applying in Thailand, not abroad. Current financial requirements - financial evidence showing monthly income of no less than 40,000 THB or having the current balance of 400,000 THB, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings.

Wrong information. All funds coming into your account in Thailand is seen as income even if it is savings and retirement. Will be taxed. All foreigners are now packing up and leaving.

This is incorrect. It has been clarified since last year that savings is not taxed, provided you can show supporting documentation.

@@ThailandEliteSpecialist Not according to the biggest accounting firm in Bangkok. Who I had a 2 hour meeting with 6 weeks ago. All funds regardless of savings or cash on the bank is taxed at the progressive rate of 0-35%, if it is brought into Thailand. I could not believe it myself . But they reconfirm this a 2nd time through a phone interview,

Thank you for that informative video. But I think that 85% of people retiring to Thailand do not have a tax problem, because their income is saving money or pensions. They have a problem with declaration. If I stay more than 180 days in Thailand do i then have to declarate my income or don`t I have to do that. That is the most importand question of many and I could not find information about that. What if I do not do? Will they just guess or will be there a fine. If you can make a vidio about that I would appreciate this a lot.

Unless you are going to live in Thailand 100% of then dont waste your time or money getting one of these. With the new 60 day visa on arrival and the ability to extend for another thirty days plus simply by leavening the country and returning you can start the process all over. As of this month Thai Immigration are not stopping people from doing multiple visa runs.

Thailand is not the place to retire anymore. Great to visit or live and work there, but not for retirees. Starting 1 Jan 2024 Thailand now taxes the income of retired Expats (including Pensions - you are wrong - it is income). If you live in Thailand 180 days or more in a year, you are liable to pay taxes on income brought into Thailand, while all the other countries in SEAsia do not tax Expat's money brought into their country. The other matter is 'proving' that the 800+K Baht you brought into Thailand is not income but savings - well good luck doing that - Thailand has not stated how and what they will accept as proof. Hopefully Thailand will change their mind, but as it stands now, Expats have been told to pay income taxes on the income money they brought to Thailand from 1 Jan 2024 onwards. Thailand also wants to implement worldwide taxation, so even if you dont remit the income to Thailand they want to tax it . No matter how good their Visas are or the country is - for retired Expats Thailand is not the best option anymore (we are leaving).

Thailand is moving to worldwide taxation from 2025, and has implemented tax on all money remitted in 2024 as a transitional step. This visa is now worthless. You get the nightmare of entering a third world tax system, and getting tax on up to 35% of what you earn anywhere in the world whilst a tourist .….. and all this for US$25,000 for 5 year plus substantial accounting fees …. Look carefully at taxes situation in Thailand before consider coming. Don’t listen to the misinformation about double taxation agreements. You will pay more tax if you come. Most are finding it’s better just to stay home or go to another long stay hub.
@MikeFoscolos-ch7ms
@MikeFoscolos-ch7ms 3 ай бұрын
Now they have announced worldwide taxation from 2025 there can be no debate. This visa is dead. It seems the remittance tax change in 2024 was just a transitional step to worldwide taxation in 2025. Now it makes no sense whatsoever to buy this visa unless Thailand privilege arranges a tax exemption on foreign fund for it members. Don’t even contemplate paying for this visa or relocating to Thailand until you get solid “independent” tax advice and clearly understand what you’re getting yourself into.

It’s common sense if your over 50 it’s a no brainier Just put 800,000 Thai baht into a Thai bank and leave it there Friends of mine have been on this visa for over 15 years Just report every 90 days it’s easy and cost very little compared to a elite visa Retirement visa is for the rest of your life from 50 onwards if you want to live in Thailand until you die Elite visa only lasts for 5-20 years and the 20 year one is invitation only So the 15 year one is fine unless you live longer The cost of 15 year elite visa is 2,500,000 million baht which is insane If you ever choose to leave Thailand on a retirement visa then just take your 800,000 baht with you if you pay elite fee it’s gone

Thailand now has a long-term visa for 10 years and it's cost is very inexpensive (around $1000). Plus you can even work legally with this visa (you can't work if you have the Elite or Privilege visas). The only requirement is to show you have $80,000 per year income from retirement.

Is Social Security retirement income from the USA is taxable ?
@IsaanMan
@IsaanMan 3 ай бұрын
1) Your SS is not taxable. Expat Tax Thailand have put up recent Vids on their channel that go through all aspects of the DTA’s between Thailand - USA, UK, Australia and give case scenario examples. There was a Finland guy who lives in Buriram and made a Vid saying he made an appointment with his local Tax Office and they had people who explained everything to him and with his tax credits he will not pay tax on Thailand. I went my local Tax Office in Udon Thani & they seen me straight away & answered all my Q’s and the answers I got were exactly what I expected after watching the Expat Tax Thailand Vid. 2) She fails to mention Thai sourced income and for a definition on this look up Personal Income Thai vs Foreign Sourced Income Tax ACCLIME THAILAND. 3) Filing tax returns is not an honor system. The following link explains that single/couples with income of 120K/220K THB income have to file tax returns and gives the penalties if you don’t or file a false return - How To File Your 2024 Income Tax In Thailand EXPATICA. 4) What a lot don’t realize is Thailand now a CRS (Common Reporting Standard) Country and to know more on that look up Common Reporting Standard WIKIPEDIA. Also Thailand Begins Common Reporting Standard Exchange In September 2023 TAINI. 5) Latest one they come out with is taxing world wide income regardless if that is transferred to Thailand or not and it’s going to be hard to hide with 120 of the world’s 195 Countries CRS Countries. However we still have to see where they go with this one. Look up New Overseas Income Rules BANGKOK POST.
