Although I got my M1 enforcement when I was 18, for various reasons, I never ended up getting a bike. As a lifelong stick shift driver, I still want to learn to ride, but I’m now 35. Am I too old now? Haha…

To make you feel a little better. I started riding in May 18th, of 2021. It was also When I first bought my 2021 Ninja 400 with 0 miles. I am now 36 as of July 16th. You're still good. If you want to ride, then go get that bike! My friend's parents just started riding not too long ago either. They're in their 40's. They also have no riding experience. But they wanted to ride because of their daughter and me going on adventures. Now we have "family rides".

If you still want to use loctite for the rotors go with the blue.... 243? Its more of a gel but it does help prevent most bolts from vibrating out of places without risking a permanent fastener lock. Small tools woll be the most you'll need
@xTHEYCALLMExGx5 ай бұрын
Yeah I'm definitely going to be using blue. Even the guys from the local motorcycle repair shop here was absolutely confused on why red was used. It's a maintenance part that will be replaced. Just blue and torqued to spec is all it's going to be needed.

Hey G if I remember right the 400 wheels are aluminum? If so find a small map gas torch and focus it on the bolt itself to prevent distorting the threads and warping the rim.

I’ll give that a shot when I get the new wheel mounted. Because that wheel is still good to use. Would like to salvage it instead of thrashing it.

This may sound dumb, but what's the difference? Clip ons vs stock
@xTHEYCALLMExGx5 ай бұрын
Not dumb at all. The aftermarket clip-ons will give you more adjustability and cheaper to replace. Cheaper as in, you can just replace individual components of the aftermarket clips on instead of the whole set like the stock clip-ons. If I dropped the bike and bent the stock clip-on, I would have to pay $105 for a brand new OEM. If I dropped the bike with the Woodcraft clip-ons like in the video, I just have to replace the actual bar for $11-$15.

I have a 500, brand new. I'm very, very new. Like only 20 miles new. Well yesterday I tried to blip the throttle and it almost ended in a disaster! It threw me back and almost popped a wheelie. It's a scary, but I didn't panic and saved the bike
@xTHEYCALLMExGx5 ай бұрын
Give it some time for the bike to break in first. It's very good that you didn't panic. Calm panic is better than full on panic. Give it little blips at a time if you're downshifting until you find the right amount to make the downshift smooth. Low speed and low gears will require more blipping than saying going from 6th to 5th from what I can tell you. But you're gonna have to go on feel with that one. You'll find it.

would it be possible to trim/sand the throttle tube instead of the housing? I'm a bit nervous about modifying OEM parts
@xTHEYCALLMExGx6 ай бұрын
You can try. The OEM part that you're sanding will be more preferred and it's really not that much to take off and the housing will still be 100% functional. You're only sanding enough to make sure the tube clears the housing's inner track to prevent the throttle from sticking. But if you get an earlier R6 throttle tube. You don't have to modify anything. I got the 2008 R6 tube due to being bigger in the cam and offer more benefit (meaning less effort to go full throttle). That requires modifying. I believe the 2006-2007 is the one you don't need to modify.

@phillyrepresenter they’re out there. It’s just that the Ninja 500 (essentially a 450cc) is taking over and replacing the 400. You can blame Euro Emissions. So if you can’t find a 400, a CF Moto 450 is the next best choice or if you want to stick with Kawasaki, you can go for the Ninja 500 or the ZX4RR.

@xTHEYCALLMExGx9 ай бұрын
You got this. You don’t have to be in 1st gear at a stop light. I go to neutral once the vehicle behind me has come to a complete stop. You’ll stall at first, maybe a lot, depending on who you are. But you’ll get the confidence in time. Take your time and get used to the riding.
@shibapatrol80111 ай бұрын
I would argue that a good set of rear sets are more important that the ECU flash tbh. Stock rear sets are set so low, if you take a corner that has positive camber you risk scraping the footpeg pin (not really sure what it's called) and it really messes with your confidence taking corners. Throttle tube mod is also another one I'm not entirely sure makes all that much of a difference (having done it myself) Another school of thought is that wider range of motion means that the rider has better input control of the bike and thus makes adding small increments of throttle easier in situations like cornering.

I had a 2021 MT07. I traded it in on the ZX4RR. I just love this bike so much better. When I get out on it with a full tank of gas, I don't want to stop until the gas light comes on. I've only had it for about a month and still haven't had it flashed or a different exhaust. I did get frame sliders and a radiator guard. The stock tune is ok for me because I'm never taking it to the track and it is just fine on my curvy country roads. I'll drop down a couple of gears and pass anything that I need to pass. When it gets up to 11k it kind of hits a power band like in a 2 cycle. Just love riding it around town and in the country.
