They are so nice and I love how my ergonomics are dialed in now. Can’t wait to start riding again.

Nice video brotha. Quick question, since the upgrade how different is the riding position from the stock clip ons? I know for me the stock ones are too upright and wrist position is pretty bad imo. With these woodcraft clipons, are you more leaned over? Thanks
@xTHEYCALLMExGx Жыл бұрын
I haven’t rode it yet (have a couple more things to do before then) but I’m constantly testing it by sitting and I’m slightly more leaned over. You can raise or lower and narrow or spread the angle of the clip-ons to whatever fits you best. With the combination of the Norton Motorsports riser plates for the stock rearsets (very aggressive, even at lowest settings), my custom Kawasaki ergo-fit seat (Luimoto seat cover and its an extra 1” of foam for a total of 1.5”), then the Woodcraft clip-ons to my ergonomic needs…my 400 is now very aggressive compared to stock. I’m much more leaned over and my feet are higher and more back with the knees up there in the tank. Compared to the more upright relaxed position the stock bars give. Speaking of wrist position…one of my biggest complaints of the stock clip-ons…I have the levers now rotated to its easier to operate the lever and to get that straight line from the forearms to the wrist that’s needed. Once I get to riding again I know its going to be like a mini-supersport and that’s what I want.

Wow. I’ve been riding this bike for a week and I have the opposite problem. I hate how tucked it is. Prefer to be ALL the way upright like on a drz 400. Struggling to adapt to this postire

Haha nature of riding a sport-style bike 😅. I actually prefer being leaned over. It was weird for me riding my buddy’s naked bike being so upright.

This may sound dumb, but what's the difference? Clip ons vs stock
@xTHEYCALLMExGx5 ай бұрын
Not dumb at all. The aftermarket clip-ons will give you more adjustability and cheaper to replace. Cheaper as in, you can just replace individual components of the aftermarket clips on instead of the whole set like the stock clip-ons. If I dropped the bike and bent the stock clip-on, I would have to pay $105 for a brand new OEM. If I dropped the bike with the Woodcraft clip-ons like in the video, I just have to replace the actual bar for $11-$15.

What drill bit size did you use for hole? I've got woodcraft clip ons recently but worried to do it myself because my stock ones have bent badly, but watching this vid makes it much more bearable.
@xTHEYCALLMExGx Жыл бұрын
Honestly I don’t even remember lol. I wasn’t even looking at the bit size at the time. I just got something that was slightly bigger than the locating pins on the control pods 😅

@@xTHEYCALLMExGx Hey back at this again, for your left throttle tube, did you reapply any sort of glue? Or did you just stick it onto the new clipon and called it a day lol

Do you have a video on the Norton risers? I was thinking about getting a set and was wondering if I should get them or buy a set of rear sets. I’m leaning towards the Norton risers.

I am curious how it will ride once your done. Seems like your leaning more forward so you will now have even more pressure on your wrist. Also the turning lock to lock does not look like enough room for your hands to hold onto the clip ons. Also it would seem you need a new rear break foot arm first? Enjoy your videos and can't wait for a few more. The one I am most looking forward it you getting back on the bike? Stop beating yourself up over what could happen, if you wreck hard enough to bend your bars well then most likely your bike will not be able to be ridden home anyways. Oh and the clutch video, my son really wants a ninja 400 so your videos give us an in site into what our future might hold.
@xTHEYCALLMExGx Жыл бұрын
I appreciate it very much. I’m trying my best to explain how to do the installation. Being a mechanic of cars for so long and then moving onto bikes…siding on caution and slow work when installing. I’ll try to get the clutch video and the tank removal as well as fast as I can. As my dead line is late spring early summer. The rear brake arm can wait as it is still functional…ugly…but functional. Got more important upgrades to tackle first since the bike is down until my ETA of riding again 😛 I have gotten to the point of using my abs and legs to hold me up as I learn not to put too much pressure on the clip-ons as that is the improper way of riding a sportbike. The turning from lock to lock is a bit sketchy. I do believe that is the cause of getting the extra long bars? I’ll play with the angles some more as I’m not feeling too comfortable with the way it sits like that full lock.

What are the specs of this clip ons?
@xTHEYCALLMExGx Жыл бұрын
Woodcraft makes one specifically for the 400 with a 2.5” set of risers to set it as low as you can with clearance for the stock body work. You can go with no risers or a 1” riser if you have race spec body. Mine is with the 2.5” set slightly lower than the triple tree and got the extra long bars. It was the only one I was able to find in stock but I find the extra long bars work well for me. Has a 7 degree decline in the bars for the sport look. Hope this helps.
@IlIlIlllIlIlIllli Жыл бұрын
Are those longer than the OEM bar? Does it hit the tank or anything?
@xTHEYCALLMExGx Жыл бұрын
They are longer and I had to angle them enough so they didn’t hit the tank. But lock to lock it’ll be uncomfortable to do a u-turn. Which eventually won’t be needed since the bike will be a track bike later on.
@IlIlIlllIlIlIllli Жыл бұрын
@@xTHEYCALLMExGx hmm that’s interesting so i guess these bars aren’t really useful during street use? I really like the look of them. The angles are completely customizable?
@xTHEYCALLMExGx Жыл бұрын
They are very useful actually. Being a three piece set, replacement of broken parts is more cost effective . A replacement bar is $12 a piece compare to whatever OEM price or questionable used OEM clip-ons you find. So you can just replace a component(s) instead of the whole part. Angles and height of the aftermarket is completely customizable and you can get different riser plates to drastically change the height. If you don’t care about having the ergonomics set to your needs or you’re okay with the OEM set up then there is no need for purchasing these. They do have the normal length bars if you need. I got the longer one because Sportbike Track Gear didn’t have the normal ones for sale at the time.

Why don’t you always keep your bike in the garage
@xTHEYCALLMExGx Жыл бұрын
My parents keep both of their vehicles in there unfortunately. Hopefully the next place I get will at the very least big enough space. But going for a place with a garage.
