what a time ! fast glue, hidden serves, small balls : the art of teble tennis ! pity it was a fine on tv, but the specialists appreciate.

Classic Schlager. After the 1st set he strangled Ryu through his service/return game, and he hardly missed a 3rd ball attack. From Ryu's perspective, I imagine it felt like the grip of a preying mantis.

Esta vez Kim Taek jugo con muy buena estrategia ya que tenia muy buena consistencia en sus golpes y movimiento de pies, la estrategia de Waldner muy buena pero no pudo contener a Kim esta vez.

Once committed to a mid/backcourt position JP had to win on forehand power; his backhand was virtually useless for either recovering the rally or winning points. Kim always had him in a death-grip.

Poor Liqin,had to throw the semi because the Chinese cheaters thought Wang would have a better chance to beat Waldner,it backfired since Ruy Min played the tabletennis of hes life,very nice,everything that backfires for the Chinese cheating state is good 👍

Waldner in his prime and in form was pretty much unplayable. Waldner is the goat with the old ball. Ma Long is the goat with the new ball. Tabletennis was funnier with the old ball. Could switch up the game and Waldner was the master at it. Nowadays it's all about who is the best robot.
@dickn.ormous106411 ай бұрын
But Ma Long's prime should occur in the celluloid era,he was third wheel till the age of 27 which is ancient by Chinese standards.

Waldner was good before 2000 when less countries competed, but was uncompetitive after 2000 against so many Chinese greats.
@afmirror01Ай бұрын
Waldner certainly was not "unplayable", he in fact had a losing track record against top Chinese players even before 2000. But he was a very clutch player and can perform in big events. He is considered by many as the Goat due to that and his longevity (e.g. WTTC 1989, 1997 and of course the 2004 Olympics run).
@dickn.ormous1064Ай бұрын
@@afmirror01In fact he was 7-3 against Kong Linghui and owned players that beat the Chinese like Gatien and Kim Taek Soo.He was the most consistent players of the 90's.
Waldner beats all the top chinese players with ease, and that means the best players in the world. But he usually have a hard time against any other countries players. It's a little weird

Most players soon got overwhelmed by Wang Liqin, but Waldner is far too good for that. Doesn't let Wang play the game he wants to, and those Waldner serves are lethal. Wang clearly struggled with them, as demonstrated at the end of the first game. His returns are all over the place.

I was down with 1-10, come up to 8-10 and did have the serve but did a lame serve. I did have a 50-50 their tobwin the match he says after the lost of the match.
