Yeah, and and all the other 99 percents in between. Tried everything possible. It can’t be fixed without sending it back to FIMI unfortunately. It was perfect after they sorted it out. Just wish I knew what they did to sort it.

Don’t bother replacing the rubber dampers. They aren’t the cause of the jello. Contact Fimi support by email describing your problem, date of purchase and attach all your black box files.

No nothing that I’m aware of that you can do yourself. If your model is the current 2020 and still under warranty then I would contact FIMI support and get them to repair it under warranty. It’s a pain in the arse sending it back to China, but it will come back sorted and you will probably get a spare battery as compensation. If yours is the 2018 version or out of warranty then you’re pretty much stuck with it.

@@chiniyaduwal yes but you have to go through their returns process by filling out a form, taking photos of the untampered with screws with the plastic seals seals still in place.

Thanks for the comment. I have recently moveed away from Raunds but would often walk my dogs on the old Chelveston base. Love the quiet atmosphere of these places and try to imagine would it would have been like in the war. Sadly there's not a lot left of the base to see or explore but at least it hasn't been totally destroyed by housing like so many historical bases.

RayHSETWO never come across ‘Pitch motor’ before, can you explain please?

@@Graham.Hanson Hi Graham, all 2 axis or 3 axis gimbals have 2 or 3 motors, the motor that pitches up and down (the one that also controls moving up and down on the controller dial) is the pitch motor. The response time of these motors are controlled by what are called PID control settings, so if the pitch motor (or any motor) is tuned too high it can 'hum'. incidentally the loud beeps you hear from the drone on start up are from the propeller motors acting as speakers from a high frequency being put through them which is similar to what I'm talking about. So in the Fimi this would be in the gimbal gain settings but basically that is the same as PID control settings, because it is. Hope that helps. Sounds like your gain (PIDs) are set too high, too low and the motors are just as bad. It's getting the balance right.

@@helioxheo2586 thanks for that explanation. I understand now. Unfortunately the only available gimbal adjustment on the X8 is ‘Gimbal Gain’. Prior to me sending the drone back to China for warranty repairs I literally tried every available percentage of gimbal gain in 1% increments, from the minimum of 1%, right up to the maximum of 200% without success.

Pero tengo que decir que no se ha ido al 100%. Pero en general ha ayudado enormemente, por lo que son posibles grabaciones de video mucho mejores. Las ondas pueden reaparecer en ciertas situaciones, pero solo muy levemente. Pero no tan masivo como antes. Tengo que ser feliz con eso. El Fimi volaba 1A hasta que fue atacado por una golondrina y cayó desde una altura de unos 50 m. ¡Tuve que cambiar 2 brazos! ¡Ahora vuelve a volar! Una tarea difícil para un profano, ¡pero solucionable! ¡Si tiene a alguien que pueda soldar muy bien y esté familiarizado con la ingeniería eléctrica!

Cheers George. I'm very pleased with the drone now that it's been sorted out by Fimi. It was worth the hassle of sending it back. The horizon issue is still there, but it does correct itself on yawing through a large arc. The jello problem has gone thankfully and the DNG files are also now much better. Colour correction and improvements can now be made easily.

Hi, I just used their standard support email address ([email protected]). Judging by the amount of problems with the new 2020 version I've seen on Facebook groups and on KZbin, I would imagine that support is pretty inundated with requests for help. I contacted them before the 2020 version was sent out I think and so must have caught them at a good time. Persevere and check junk/spam folders as they were always flagged as spam for me. Hi Graham I managed to send all the details over to fimi. They said they are looking at analysing the flight data and will get back to me as soon as possible. One thing that is making me nervous sending the drone back for repair or replacement is the horror stories I found here (see his channel and comments): kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpiUq4pjrZxlqKc So it looks you were lucky with your replacement drone!!

Odir Becker Yes problem solved by FIMI. I sent it back to them and they fixed it under warranty. It’s now perfect thankfully. If you have the same problem I suggest you do the same.There is nothing that you can do yourself to fix it.

Thanks George. Yes hopefully it will now be ok. I literally took it out of the box, put a 40% charged battery in it and test flew it without calibrating anything at all, so I’m very pleased with the result. Especially as it’s been round the world and bounced about in courier vans for two months. Have to say that I personally found FIMI support very helpful. Always responded to emails the following day allowing for time differences.

Hi George, no the video footage from the drone became unusable. Right from the very first flight back in November 2019 there was gimbal problems, with intermittent jello in small segments of the videos but the majority of the footage was ok. Bit by bit, as time went on, the jello got worse and the camera itself was physically vibrating. In May 2020 after numerous emails with FIMI support and trying numerous firmware downgrading sessions, FIMI told me to send the drone back for warranty repair. Two months later on and I finally got it back today, 22 July 2020. Yes you can. When I first got it in November 2019 it was evident in the very first videos, but back then it was only for brief moments and the rest of the footage was fine. Since then it has steadily got worse, to the point now where the whole flight’s recordings are unusable because of the jello caused by the vibration.

Also see the videos of "Thomas Gerstner". he flew on the phillipinnes without jello and 1 week later in germanys winter. Problem is back....

Yes I’d read that low temperature was a cause and initially I was putting my problems down to the winter temperatures, even though it was always above 5 degrees Centigrade. But now it doesn’t matter what the temperature is. I flew it last week in 26 degrees and 100% of the entire video was garbage. I’m in 95 degree Florida, same jello problem. It’s not the temp.

I’m now in the process of sending it back to FIMI for warranty repairs or replacement.

So did I. It did fix the glitching. It no longer rapidly goes full tilt down, then up but the jello has over the course of the last 6 months become steadily worse. The vibration of the camera unit itself became noticeable.

Update - Had a response back from FIMI support. They have asked that I return the drone to them for warranty repair..

Update - drone arrived back from warranty repair. It all seems to be perfect now. Hopefully it will stay that way. Persevere with FIMI support. They actually did a good job for me. The biggest problem is the postal service either end.

Yeah, me too. It's definitely a software issue as it stops vibrating when I go into the advanced adjustment menu but immediately starts again when I exit out of that menu. Really hope they can do a patch/firmware update.

I’ve tried that and also 1% and every other percent, doesn’t stop it unfortunately.

@@alexreisinho I have literally tried every percent number from 1 up to 200. Nothing works anything above 90 and the gimbal goes nuts, glitching up and down every few seconds, unusable so have settled on 1% being the best setting

L K sorry for the late reply. I didn’t know anyone had commented so have only just seen this. In answer to your question, no I’m not aware of any at all to be honest. Not seen any personally but I believe there are some on the airfield as I’ve seen photos. But I have no clue as to their whereabouts. They’re certainly not obvious. I’ve been walking my dogs on that airfield for many years and never come across a shelter. Just a fuel pumping bunker and storage depot that’s fenced off on the north east side of the field.

Thanks for subscribing George. Since I made the video I have noticed in recent footage a tiny amount of jello creeping back in again. Appears to only be in the first initial seconds of flight before settling down. I have since been exploring other options to prevent this happening and may now have a proper solution that works. I need to carry out a few flights to confirm this but have not been able to fly here in England due to weeks of strong winds. I will report back here, hopefully with a successful solution as soon as I can 🤞🙏

MUNDO DOS CURIOSOS if you have already switched off the WiFi on all your devices when flying then try adjusting the gain gradually up to around 25% and see what works best. You probably won’t eliminate it completely but it should reduce it significantly. You can then just edit out the bad bits. That’s what I do.

Hi Thomas, did your’s perform ok in the Philippines, or did you not take it? Yes I noticed there were a couple of wobbles in this video. Which is disappointing, but no gimbal glitches thankfully.

@@Graham.Hanson Yes it performed very good at the Philippines, no wobbles no glitches and no wiggeling. Even the Colors i guess was better there. Of course the Temperatures was always above 29 Degrees Celsius the only Thing that was not so nice was the permanent Wind there, sometimes very Strong and dangerouse for the little FIMI.

As part of my ongoing airfields project started in 2014 covering South East England, East Anglia and the East Midlands using gliders and light aircraft Chelveston was investigated and recorded two years ago on the ground as well. The usual solar panels and wind turbines are present on this historic site as your video clearly shows. A very interesting historical site. 200 airfields recorded so far@

Hi Luis, no I have not contacted FIMI at all. I have not had any more problems at all with the gimbal glitching since I set the gimbal sensitivity down to 1% and ensuring the WiFi is turned off on all devices near the drone’s controller. I noticed you were in the advanced menu. I never touched that. Try resetting all the parameters to default and then just change the ‘Gimbal Sensitivity ‘ to 1% (it’s normal default setting is 100%) but make sure that you save the 1% setting before exiting the menu. If you don’t save it then the sensitivity setting will revert back to 100%.
