"Where its blury on one side" I thought there is something there. At first it looked like the middle is blurry... This looks Fuuuken Guuud! Just bought 5dmk2. Trying out raw. I am also going for cheap weird lenses for now. Some Pentacon ones. Wich cost 30euros each in Spain here... And they do frekin well actualy. Some of them come with Film camera attached :D Still for a 30 :D Also. Brighton :D And its 2018 :D wow... I have to research the 5d mk2 higher resolution shooting... Any advice ?

Sorry to be redundant but this camera singlehandedly (and involuntarily on Canon's side) changed the market of cinema camera... ML had its problems for sure but at that time it kicked some big asses that's for sure

Hi this is the absolutly best footage I have ever seen from a 5d mk ii. I bought a 5D mk ii recently for not much and now I'm trying to get rid of the moirée with magic lantern. So far I didn't find the right ML experimental version that gives me the crop of the sensor. Could you guide me to a link where I can find a stable version that has crop mode?

This is fake right? The sharpness is unreal, all of the magic lantern videos just look like polished bad video but this actually looks more then 1080. Cool if true, need to try it.

Thanks for assuming it’s fake, and what do you mean sub 1080p. All those videos are shot using the crappy full frame recording mode which uses line skipping to produce a 1856x1044 image. This was shot using a 1:1 crop mode which reads a 2880x1080 region of the sensor (resulting in an almost 2x crop factor).

It can record 3K for about 10 seconds. All the higher resolutions in this video were stitched from multiple cropped areas of the sensor recorded at 3k. A sort of panorama thing.

2880x1080 at 24fps (like this video, it’s cropped). The camera can also do 30fps in full sensor mode, just under 1080p.

Did it by recording crop mode from different parts of the sensor then stitching it like a panorama (in raw state). It was a programming experiment. Disregard this stupid video.

@@ValleStutz You don't mean sharp, you mean good :) That's because I recorded in raw (avoiding camera sharpening), at high resolution, and added very little sharpening in post. If you prioritise "sharp", your images will look shit. It's not anamorphic. It's just a photo lens from the 1960s I found for £10. Not particularly sharp either.

I used crop mode. That has no drop line issue. Almost zero moire, however there's a 1.95x crop factor.

This video is amazing, and reminds me why I love it too. I am using Magic lantern as well, and enjoy the detail and colour that this old camera body is capable of. I am going to Iceland tomorrow for a 12 day self-drive tour of the Ring Road and hope to get some awesome footage like you have here! Thanks so much for sharing this work of art!

Bought a 5d2 almost 2 years ago to be able to get images like this. Color grading is excellent. Watching the video on my HD TV and on my phone. Wondering how many times someone asked you if this was taken on iPhone?

Colour grading is mostly simple MLV App tweaks plus some usage of the Film FJ filter. Also no one has asked if this was shot on iPhone. Why would they? I know iPhones have good video for a phone, but it's quite a different look...

@@roombmedia I do not compile the windows versions, so I'm not an expert here, but I think the static exe should be more self contained, while the dynamic version loads all of it's DLLs at runtime, so you could replace libraries if needed, I think 🤷 I don't see the point of releasing different versions, it's just confusing for users. So.... it makes no difference which one you choose.

This video was mostly handheld, I used no tripod. I think I put the camera on random flat surfaces for the still shots. For my Brighton video I used a £50 neewer travel tripod from Amazon that I recently lost. Now I use a vanguard veo 2go 235CB carbon fibre tripod, it’s extremely light and small (I love it). It doesn’t have a smooth panning head though. Haven’t published any videos with it yet.

Pls help me, i wanna shoot 3000x1080 with my 5d mark 2, but my ml build gives me just a 2144x898 in 5x crop mode. I'm lost, are you shooting in crop mode too, or there is another way to provide a good quality full frame video. I cant even chose the nicest build for my camera because my english is quite bad and there are too much builds on the ml forume, and i cant chose the one i need, most of them are experemental or something, on some builds i cant even find a link. Can you help me to find that build? And is it crop or full frame, ahhh its so hard........

And yes 3000x1080 is crop mode. It gives you a 1.9x crop factor.

@@МихаилКолосов-л7н I mostly used an older build that only had 2880x1080, that might be why I got more recording time. The 3000x1080 build came out right before I got a 5D3, so I didn't use it much. You should also consider the build with 2784x1160 resolution, I think that's a much better aspect ratio than 3000x1080.

Digic 4 cameras can shoot 12 and 10 bit just fine. I shot this at 12 bit: much longer recording time and no difference in quality. 10 bit reduces quality noticably.

@@tobeywarwick2821 pretty sure you can overclock the card writing to get like 70MB/s on the 6D1. And recently they found a way to gain even a few more MB/s on top of that: www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=26443.0 (try the custom build in the first post) Edit: someone in that thread is getting 92MB/s on a 6D, more than I ever got on the 5D2!

Really appreciated your time and effort addressing my queries here. 5D2 probably arrived tomorrow will give it ago. Heard of sd oc but didn't know it would be that much faster lol. 6D1 lacks Av video mode but just realized that Av mode in 5D2 alters iso as well hence useless and have to go back to M mode. What's the best quality shooting in crop like yours or FF? I'm aiming FF 1920x800 60fps 2.39:1 Resolve image stabilizer upscaled to 4k60or25 2.39:1 on KZbin.

@@tobeywarwick2821 Yeah I only shoot in M mode, the other modes aren't good for video on this camera. In FF mode, both the 5D2 and 6D1 record in slightly-below 1080p resolution (something like 1856x1044), but it upscales without a problem. The best quality modes on both cameras are the 1:1 crop modes that record in higher resolution, like what I used in this video, but they must be used on a tripod to avoid rolling shutter, so FF mode is best for handheld. A 5D3 is the best option if you can get your hands on one.

There is no 5.6k. It is me stitching 2.8k videos recorded from different parts of the sensor. And no, 2.8k is not continous. You get 10-12 seconds.
