Your videos are so helpful! I am in Grad school right now to be a CFT in Seattle and your videos have been a great avenue to explore these therapies. I especially like IFS and look forward to learning and applying it with clients. I think it fits well with Transpersonal Psychology and I am curious about the connecting of the two.

No more DEI! THAT IS RACIST IN NATURE AND THAT LEFTIST POLICY AND THAT LATINEX TERM BIDEN OR? MADE UP ISNT INCLUSIVE BY FAR! ITS JUST ANOTHER WAY FOR THEM TO TAKE AWAY OUR LANGUAGE. WORDS, AND CULTURE AND TURN IT ALL INTO ANOTHER LOUSY LABEL TO LUMP US ALL TOGETHER AND TAKE OUR INDIVIDUALITY AND RESPECT FOR OUR DIFFERENT CULTURES FROM US. UNTIL WE FORGET AND LOSE OUR ORIGINAL CULTURAL HABITS AND BELIEFS UNTIL WE ARE ALL MELTED TOGETHER IN ONE UNIDENTIFYABLE GROUP OF PEOPLE. THEN WE LOSE OUR SELVES AND OUR MINDS IN THESE CULTURALLY UNEDUCATED CREATURES THEY GET TO STAY OF THERE OWN RACE AND CULTURE WHILE WE ARE FORCRD TO CHANGE OURS.. WHY DO THEY THINK THEY SHOULD DO THIS? WHERE DID THIS LATINX WORD EVEN COME FROM? DID WE EVEN HAVE A SAY IN IT? NO! THEY DONT CARE WE HAVE TO CHANGE NOT THEM

Dear Diane, I absolutely adore your work. ❤❤❤❤ I truly appreciate the fact that you so generously share your knowledge, experience, and wisdom in this way. I can genuinely say that coming across your work has been a game changer for me in terms of how I learn MFT - all the way out here in Norway. You are by far my “favouritest” “4335” in the whole world! 🎉❤🤓

Thanks so much! I am sorry to hear that you are not learning this in school. That is a bit concerning, but that is also why I am doing my KZbin series. To fill in the gaps that your professors and supervisors miss. Glad it works for you! I also did an updated one of this video recently as well. Dear Diane, thank you so much for your amazing lectures. I looooove them all! I come from a British Psychology education tradition (all the way to PhD) but now live in Norway and study towards a Masters in Family therapy. It is quite a contrast to go from a positivistic, evidence based, systemic, approach where theoretical knowledge reigns supreme to a more social constructionist, narrative, collaborative, or dialogical approach where theoretical knowledge is sometimes regarded as a hindrance to the therapeutic endeavour. Your lectures are the PERFECT bridge between those two very different worldviews. Learning from you gives me the confidence to navigate the often confusing and sometimes terrifying prospect of moving into family systems work. Thank you, thank you so much for making your knowledge and wisdom so readily available to people far, far away from you. All the best! Maria Belén P. S. I am collecting all your books! 🤓💕💕💕

Agree. Have been a 'Counsellee' recipient & and beneficiary of Narrative Therapy and still conclude it is the most straightforward 'framework' within which 'all the other therapies' can be accommodated. As stated, NT finds 'no fault in people' - but looks to people in the most favourable light. In which they may 'shine brightly' 😊

Why did you say the DSM is meant for psychiatrist use? Are you implying that anyone who is not a psychiatrist would not be able to possibly use the book? Please clarify your comment.

Why would prolonged grief d/o be diagnosed at "6 months for loss of a child and 1 year for loss of an adult when everyone knows that there is nothing WORSE than the loss of a CHILD, so, it's completely normal to grieve the loss of a child for a year and actually MANY YEARS. As a mother who lost her only child, this is disturbing to me.

I don't understand why you can't ask your client to educate you about their culture when families even within the same culture interpret the dominant culture differently. Doesn't it make more sense to ask them since you may rely on a text and find it is totally wrong? Isn't relying only on a text making assumptions about how your client interprets that culture. I'm mixed race, so I find this to be especially true: My culture isn't in any text book.

Thank you for talking about genograms! My program doesn't seem to care much about them (1st semester, few weeks in) but listening to you talk about them and how to use them as a tool makes me want to get into it. I had no idea they have software to help create them. Good to know. That comparison to giving tours of hell - wow. Loved this video.

Dr Gehart- I've just finished watching this video and I cannot express how useful it has been. I had only heard of narrative therapy in passing before now, and as a psychology student, my knowledge on this subject has been broadened entirely, to a scope in which I could explain it to others if asked. Thank you so much for taking time out of your life to make this. I will be watching many more of your videos in the future!
