@@TheEaglesRage Overall I can say that I am just kinda 50/50 with my feelings about the classes I have taken. I had previous credits so I got to fast forward as well. But Music Theory gets on my nerves. Lol. I play sax but I didn't sign up to learn piano. I've been a FoH engineer for over 10 years. I was in a rush to get to the AP classes. I love the Pro Tools and Logic practice. Studio One is my DAW of choice. I've got a B+ avg so I'm doing something right. What class are you in now?
@TheEaglesRage2 ай бұрын
They included music theory with the audio production degree? I could understand it with the music production side but AP? Yeesh... Glad I dont have to do any theory courses again, it wouldn't be so bad if they weren't such dry topics. Although, the little bit that I managed to retain out of those classes did help with some of the creative process, in general. Thats awesome that you have FOH experience, mines a bit minimal on that side of the house outside of a few gigs but it would be cool to get into for sure! Currently Im in the ' intro to showproduction ' class.

@@hsaudio8964 I'm in the audio production degree right now and yeah the music theory was a little irritating. But I got through it. I have been a Recording engineer for the past 4 years, so some classes and projects have been very easy. However, I like having access to my professors to ask more advanced questions. I have definitely improved my Protools workflow. But I think what helps me is if I learn something new in class I am immediately putting it into practice with my clients. I got an A avg in the DAW class right now. Excited about being able to get the pro tools cert.

Although some classes overlap, the main differences are the areas of focus. The Music production degree is geared for those aspiring producers and composers whereas the audio production degree focuses more on the technical side of audio engineering.

@TheEaglesRageАй бұрын
@@DEADWALKORDER Without any transfer credits from another school or approved job equivalent (such as military), the launch box comes in after your first 4 classes. For my first bachelor's degree with Full Sail it came in after 3 months because I had military credits. Now on my second degree, it came in day one at the start of my new program. A lot of that had to do with a good majority of my music production credits carried over into the Audio production side so I was able to jump right into the core classes which requires some of the stuff used in the launch box. Does that answer your question at all?

@TheEaglesRage2 ай бұрын
If you can adapt to the fast pace nature of this school, you will do fine. There were a few topics that took me a minute to get some sort of barring on but the nice thing about being online is having the ability to work, for the most part, at my own pace. Being able to step away from the more rigorous topics and return after a short break really helped me retain as much of the information covered. That alone is one heck of a perk of being online and don't think I would have succeeded as well with my first degree if I opted for the on campus route.
@BlaqkSparrow2 ай бұрын
@@TheEaglesRagegenuinely I think that’s gonna be my saving grace being online lol overall I’m really excited for it
@TheEaglesRage2 ай бұрын
@@BlaqkSparrow lol for sure, there is a class called 'Intro to Showproduction' after your first few gen-ed classes that I would highly recommend if you have the means to picking up your own digital live sound board or find a way to play with one. The first week was a breeze with a familiarization of everyones role in the live environment, however week 2 gets really technical with audio routing to a live rig. The information itself is worth gold; but because of how technical this topic is, it's tough in an online platform to fully grasp the concept without the hands on ability. Fortunately, the tests are super easy so long as you pay attention to the lectures. They are running the Midas M32 for their lecture labs which is what I'll be looking at adding to my arsenal of equipment, only for the reason that the instructor is giving a true "play by play" of how to operate it and pairing the information with physically touching the gear benefits in more ways than one. If anything, the investment alone will allow me to already have a board for a live rig but the nice thing as well is that its also friendly working as a studio console...at least thats my thinking anyway, plus its a tax write off.

@kniferideaudio2 ай бұрын
I can't believe people still pay to go to Full Sail. Especially for live sound. You do not need it, you just need to work. Call a local live sound company and tell them you want to work. They will put you to work. You will have to push cases and load trucks and do grunt work, but you WILL learn how to mix 100X faster on the job than in any classroom. FS is a total scam and a waste of cash. You are better off just buying gear and learning yourself rather than going to a school to do it. You can read a book without having to toss a bunch of fliff around and absolutely ZERO studios or live sound companies care one bit about any degrees of certifications. This is coming from someone that graduated from CRAS in 1998 and has been in the industry ever since. It's a total waste.
@TheEaglesRage2 ай бұрын
I agree partially, and I apologize if anything gets a bit "wordy". From my perspective, Full Sail overall is certainly not a scam as the school has helped line up and create a strong connections within industry when I initially attended and graduated from their music production program. Over priced, mmmm yeah thats a different topic. I certainly wouldn't recommend attending any audio school if it meant going into astronomical debt for it, but for those in a unique situation such as myself where the military is fronting the bill i'd say go for it. I think its absolutely possible to gain the same knowledge in any degree they offer while utilizing other means, however where I think this school excels at is by providing the direct knowledge and familiarization without having to sift through a bunch of information. Where I agree with you is that I don't think the school fully sets you up for everything leading up to and upon graduation, especially in an online format. Within the audio degrees, where I think students get themselves into a bit of trouble is that they dont take the time to invest into themselves by purchasing their own equipment to learn how to properly route audio signals, partake in workshops outside of the school's umbrella, working their craft while in school, as well as learning the various industry roles and what they do. For those that do have the means to invest into their craft, I think Full Sail is one hell of a way to bridge the gap and provide that supplemental knowledge for any student to succeed.

@TheEaglesRage5 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for stopping by! So it was a bit of an adjustment coming from a semi weighted keyboard such as my Alesis VI61. Immediately I noticed I had to really put extra effort into my playing which was kinda a double edged sword. On one hand I love the control I have to be able to really articulate my notes but at the same time I was slowed way down due to moving onto a fully weighted key bed. This issue is at no fault to the keyboard at all and is more towards my playing ability of course, but there was definitely an an adjustment period. Having the S88 for a bit now, I have come to enjoy all the features this controller allows and really feel that it was a great asset to my musicianship. As far as hand strain, I haven’t personally came across anything crazy. If you have experience playing a traditional acoustic piano it feels identical.
