CrazyEyez62 wrote 90% of my comments for me, thnx! I’d just watched Charlie Rose’s Uma Thurman interview & he’s the polar opposite of this delightful British lady, who not only holds her ego in check & asks intelligent, short questions, but seems to have no ego at all. She’s just the vehicle that enables us to mine such fertile mind. Possibly the best Tarantino interview I’ve ever see. Brava!

2024 Jojo Rabbit, full of satire. Here's this Maori dressed up as Hitler. What a shock ! Then watching the film. Hau e, you wonder what the heck is going on. Rawe. Funny. Worth watching from my Maori perspective. His equal in terms of professional presentation. For me Graham Norton. Deep gut laugh😊

Rewatching LOTR, I’ve always thought that it wouldn’t have worked if one particular character wasn’t done exactly - Gandalf. He could have easily been ridiculous or overdone - he had to be likable, but also mysterious and incredibly serious at times. It’s a good thing they picked the right actor, as they did with all of the other key roles.

Its kinda disappointing to know PoA made the least money out of all HP films. I think I can guess why, the parents would have read the reviews saying, its a dark movie, dementors, death and all that. So, they didnt let their kids watch it. i just found this.. Motion Picture Rating (MPA) Rated PG for frightening moments, creature violence and mild language Sex & Nudity: None Violence & Gore: Moderate Profanity: Mild Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking: Mild Frightening & Intense Scenes: Moderate where was profanity and alcohol.. and stuff??! this movie should have been the highest grosser of them all.

Art and its audience, are not hermetically sealed compartments, as Tarantino would have us believe. If art didn't influence us in some way, we would not be attracted to it. The love of on-screen cruelty, for its own sake, is Tarantino's creed, and he will have to hold onto that private doctrine for dear life. Unfortunately, we do have a little empirical evidence, to demonstrate that movies have inspired real-life murders (or attempted murders), such as Hitchcock’s ‘Frenzy’, Natural Born Killers, American Psycho, Robocop 2, Black Christmas, Magnum Force, The Taxi Driver, Deliverance, Hunting Humans, Basic Instinct, Clockwork Orange, Basketball Diaries, Exorcist III, The Dark Knight, Friday the 13th , Halloween 2, Rob Zombie’s Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Child’s Play, Child’s Play 3, Scream, Saw, Saw VI, The Dark Knight, The Purge, et al. The most disturbing casefor me, was the Scream-inspired murder of Cassie Jo Stoddart, where we have audio footage of her assailants boasting “This is gonna be just like ‘Scream!’” Look out, Wes. Gene Siskel is enlightening on this topic: “My objection to ‘The Last House on the Left’…is the fact that this movie celebrates violent acts, particularly adult male abuse of young women. Given the similarity of recent crimes in the Chicago area to this movie, I am surprised that any theater owner would want to make a living by playing it. Theater owners who do not control themselves invite others to do so.”(Chicago Tribune 31st October 1972) Note that Siskel incriminates the theater owners only, but what of the filmmakers? Caveat vendor!

Genuinely can't believe they've managed to hit this many back to back jackpots when it comes to the cast. Especially amazed by the way Gollum was created - one in a billion performance from Andy Serkis. The greatest movies in the history of movies.

Interestingly, he completely brushed over the fact the main story of The Terminator and major parts of Terminator 2 are directly copied from previous movies and T.V. series. Here's a list of the ones I know of, so far: Scene where the Terminator is operating on his arm: The Twilight Zone (original series), episode "In His Image" (episode 103). Cyborg being sent back in time (and some other parts): "Demon With a Glass Hand". A 1964 episode of The Outer Limits. A soldier being sent back in time (there's more to it, but I don't want to ruing either story): Another 1964 episode of The Outer Limits, entitled "Soldier". The concept of a main computer system deciding all of humanity is a threat, so it sent out robots to kill them off: Taken from "The War Machines", from the original series of Doctor Who. (Incidentally, the Doctor went into a virtual reality, in the series. That virtual reality was called...you guessed it...The Matrix.) A whole lot of Terminator 1 and T2 were directly copied from a movie called "Cyborg 2087". In T1, where Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor are hiding under a bridge as they had a conversation about the future, their conversation is nearly word-for-word the same as on Cyborg 2087. (I can paste the original dialogue here, if anyone wants to know it.) The scene in T1, where the Terminator operated on his own arm, is also in Cyborg 2087. Lastly, the invention of Skynet. There's a 1970 movie called "Colossus: The Forbin Project". The entire concept of Skynet is exactly the same as the artificially intelligent Collossus computer in that movie. Specifically, Colossus was designed as a defence computer. It was designed to run everything, with no human input. Colossus decided humanity was a threat to itself… In Terminator 1, Kyle Reese’s story about Skynet turning against humanity was nearly word for word the same as a character from Colossus: The Forbin Project.
