That comment came from someone in the cast or crew, who were all aware that Shayne and Courtney were dating/ engaged. They made a joke that subtly hinted at what was happening (their relationship status) without fully giving it away to the audience, which they found funny since they were all in on it. I’m not sure why that would make you uncomfortable….
