Trumpets are out of tune In the first repeat, snare break off a lot and sounding unfamiliar. Sometimes they were “fitting their star into the square” 😅

When the low brass has the melody the trumpets are too loud especially the 1s. Also the trombone gliss could’ve been louder.

My Junior High School band played this song at our Spring Concert in May of 1969, we still have the reel to reel tape recording of it. My sister was on the French Horn. Our band had a different start to this song, but the rest of the music sounded just like our band. We did have louder cymbal cracks in our performance they really stood out on the recording. Brings back alot of memories of my school years.

You might at least mention the composer - Katharine (Kitty) Parker. She was a student of Grainger's, but she should not be lost in the higher wattage of his fame.

Worst performance of May Day I've had very heard. I played 1st trumpet and I played better than this whole band. And my class Period has like 16 kids and we played a lot better and a lot like 10x faster than this.
